Once again, Singaporeans have something else to flex about our hawker scene. Some of our familiar local hawker food brands will open overseas outlets in Wynn Palace, a 5-star hotel in Macau!

On 29 Apr, Wynn Palace in Cotai, Macau will open its new food court, Gourmet Pavilion. Dubbed its “new world-class culinary destination”, Gourmet Pavilion will feature diverse Asian cuisines from Japanese to Indian to Taiwanese.
The more than 15 international brands featured consist of 6 seated restaurants and over 10 stalls in the Food Hall. These include Tanyu Grilled Fish from Chongqing, China and Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa from Japan.
Several local hawker businesses will travel overseas to join this lineup of Gourmet Pavilion’s Food Hall stalls. Tourists to Macau will soon be able to feast on Singaporean delights when the 5-star hotel’s food court opens.
For instance, tourist-famed Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice will serve the iconic Hainanese chicken rice, a dish that has shaped many foreigners’ impressions of the country. The over-40-year-old Michelin Bib Gourmand business has become one of the most well-known hawker brands selling it.

Ann Chin Popiah, another Michelin-recommended brand established in 1958 with outlets islandwide, will also set up shop in Macau. It specialises in handmade traditional popiah rolls.

Katong laksa, a variation of the Southeast-Asian spicy coconut milk broth noodles that feature cut rice noodles for easy scooping, is yet another popular Singaporean dish. The beloved local hawker chain 328 Katong Laksa will represent this dish at the new Gourmet Pavilion.
Finally, Tuan Yuan Pork Ribs Soup will offer hearty and peppery Singapore-style bak kut teh. It may not be a hawker business, but this Tiong Bahru-based, family-founded eatery is dedicated to continuing the legacy of this heritage dish.
It is a great honour to have these local businesses bring our traditional hawker fare overseas and represent our country in such a prestigious establishment!
