Kuala Lumpur may be dotted with malls at every turn, but nothing quite replaces our love for a good ol’ lepak session under the stars. Food Bazaar TRX is the latest addition to the city’s food-truck-meets-hawker-haven scene, which made its debut in 2024.

If you’ve been to its siblings in Maluri or Ampang, this one feels like their cooler, more ambitious cousin. Imagine Tapak — but bigger, better, with proper seating, a touch of air-conditioning (though let’s be real, the Malaysian humidity still wins some days), and an upper deck that offers sweet relief once the sun goes down.

Come nightfall, this buzzing space transforms into a melting pot of flavours, serving up an array of Muslim-friendly eats from every corner of the globe. But enough of the preamble. Let me take you on a personal tour of the must-try stalls at Food Bazaar TRX!
1. Ayutthaya Kingdom

Ayutthaya Kingdom has been living rent-free in my head ever since my last visit. True to its name, this stall brings the flavours of Thai food to Food Bazaar TRX, and it is exactly the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again.

I went straight for the Green Curry Chicken with Rice Set, priced at RM13.50 and paired with a glass of pandan drink. The curry was fragrant and creamy with just the right consistency, full of tender chicken and vegetables that made it a meal worth lingering over.

Although the heat level was non-existent for a spice-lover like me, the flavours were layered enough to keep every bite satisfying. The pandan drink was equally memorable, light and refreshing with a taste that reminded me of lemongrass. It balanced out the richness of the curry beautifully.
If you are in the mood to explore more of the menu, Ayutthaya Kingdom also serves Thai favourites such as Tom Yum Chicken, Pad Thai, Omelette Roll and Khai Jiew Kung. This is the kind of stall best enjoyed with friends because Thai food always feels better when shared across the table.

2. Kendonya

Kendonya is the spot to visit if you are in the mood for Japanese comfort bowls that do not break the bank. The menu is straightforward but varied, offering familiar favourites such as Beef Gyudon at RM13.90, Lamb Don at RM14.90, Chicken Katsu Don at RM13.90 and Oyakodon at RM12.90.

I decided on the Curry Chicken Katsu Don, also priced at RM13.90, and the portion immediately caught my attention. The bowl was generously filled with short-grain rice, topped with golden chicken katsu, then smothered in curry and vegetables with a drizzle (read: heaping drizzle) of mayo and a sprinkle of seaweed to finish.

The katsu was crispy and addictive, with just the right crunch before giving way to tender chicken inside. The curry itself leaned on the familiar side, not particularly complex but rich enough to coat the rice and comforting in that homely, no-fuss Japanese way.
For what you pay, the portion is substantial and satisfying, perfect for a filling dinner or late-night lepak fuel.

3. Sizzlelicious
Some stalls at Food Bazaar TRX sit side by side under the same signboard, and Sizzlelicious happens to be the one sitting right next to Kendonya. While Kendonya is all about Japanese rice bowls, Sizzlelicious takes a different path and delivers hot plates that arrive at your table still crackling.

The menu offers plenty to choose from, including Sizzling Chicken with Egg (RM10.90), Sizzling Chicken Tom Yum (RM10.90), Sizzling Lamb with Egg (RM15.90), Sizzling Lamb Tom Yum (RM14.90), Sizzling Beef with Egg (RM14.90), and Sizzling Beef Tom Yum (RM14.90).
What makes it even better is the freedom to customise your base. Every dish can be paired with yee mee, butter rice or ramen, which means you can switch it up depending on whether you are craving something light, hearty or extra comforting.

4. Teppanyaki House

Teppanyaki House is all about the smoky allure of hot griddles and sizzling proteins, each served with rice and stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal. The menu may be short, but every dish is as fulfilling as it is simple.

The Teppanyaki Chicken, starting from RM12.90, is a crowd-pleaser with tender slices coated in a savoury sauce that pairs effortlessly with the rice. For something heartier, the Teppanyaki Beef (from RM14.90) brings a touch of richness, cooked just enough to keep the meat juicy while soaking up the flavours of the grill.
The Teppanyaki Lamb (from RM15.90), is slightly bolder in taste, a good choice for those who enjoy meat with a little more character. And for a lighter option, the Teppanyaki Salmon (RM17.90) offers flaky fish with crisp edges, balanced out by the freshness of the vegetables on the side.

5. KOCHIA
Right next to Teppanyaki House is KOCHIA, a halal Korean food stall that is ideal for anyone looking to satisfy a Korean food craving, particularly if you are after a crunchy fried chicken snack or a full bento to share.

The menu features crispy Korean Fried Chicken starting from RM12.90. For a more complete meal, KOCHIA also offers Korean Bento sets, all starting from RM10.90. Options include Korean Kkaseu Chicken Rice, which pairs a crispy cutlet with fluffy rice, Korean Yangyeom Chicken Rice featuring sweet and spicy glazed chicken, Korean Kkaseu Saengsun Rice with lightly fried fish, and a Braised Minced Chicken Set that is savoury, hearty, and comforting.

Sometimes when you are at a food court-style spot, all you really want is a comforting plate of chicken rice. Pak Cikken delivers exactly that and a little extra.

At RM8.90, you can enjoy either Roasted Chicken Rice or classic Hainanese Chicken Rice, both served with fragrant rice and tender chicken. For something a bit more adventurous, there are Buttermilk Chicken Rice and Salted Egg Chicken Rice, each at RM12.90, or Turmeric Chicken Rice at RM10.90.

8. Elite Shawarma

Elite Shawarma is the contender for Middle Eastern fare at Food Bazaar TRX with a menu that balances hearty mains and sweet treats.

Their signature Chicken Shawarma (from RM10) offers tender, spiced chicken wrapped up and grilled to perfection. For something more filling, there is Hummus with Chicken (RM15), Chicken with Rice (RM18) and Arabic Chicken Shawarma (RM20).
Vegetarian-friendly options are available too, with Falafel (from RM10), while those craving something more traditional can opt for Chicken Mandi (from RM15), a fragrant rice dish paired with spiced chicken.

You will find the familiar crunch of a Zinger Burger, the grab-and-go ease of a Twister Wrap, the slurp-worthy delight of Chow Mein Noodles and the simple satisfaction of a Chicken Roll.
But what makes Asli Bites especially charming is the way it folds in flavours closer to home. The Spicy Coconut Curry Noodles are a fiery nod to Southeast Asian kitchens. Then there is Butter Chicken with Rice, which takes the classic Indian dish and gives it a comforting, canteen-style makeover. And somehow, Chicken Biryani makes its appearance too.

The Western is as straightforward as it sounds. The stall itself leans into the fun of giving Western favourites a Malaysian twist. This is not about fine dining precision, but rather the joy of hearty plates that are both familiar and affordable.

The Fried Chicken Chop (RM13.90) and Grilled Chicken Chop (RM13.90) are the kind of dishes that remind you why these classics never left our menus — saucy, a little messy, and best eaten with a side of fries you cannot help but steal.

The Lamb Chop (RM18.90) brings a richer bite, while the Fish & Chips (RM13.90) is crisp and golden in a way that makes it just as much a local staple as any Western cafe’s version.
On the pasta side, you get choices that speak to our Malaysian love for mixing things up. The Spaghetti Carbonara (RM11.90) is creamy, while the Spaghetti Bolognese (RM11.90) delivers that tangy-savoury hug in a bowl.
