I couldn’t believe my eyes either. ONZ! Buffet Restaurant by Bijan at Grandlink Square serves an all-you-can-eat buffet for only S$10? Then, the questions arose. How do they do it at such a low price? Was there a catch?

This restaurant opens daily from 12pm – 2pm for lunch and 6pm – 8pm for dinner, with a variety of Indian dishes featured on their menu that change every day. If you’re hungry for dessert or want to escape the Singapore heat, you can pay an additional S$5 for their Premium Buffet for access to their air-conditioned basement with an upgraded drinks menu and dessert bar. So reasonable, right?
Google reviews praised the affordability and banquet-style presentation of their Premium Buffet. Others also praised the variety of dishes available.

In fact, a few patrons praise their Chicken Briyani with decently chunky portions of meat, coupled with shimmering grains of aromatic orange basmati rice. It’s a staple of most Indian cuisine places, and they offer a solid showing.

They serve up some interesting Western options with this Chicken Florentine Pasta, too. But some patrons feel like they should stick to Indian cuisine, as their Western offerings aren’t up to standard.

Upon closer inspection of the reviews, though, it became obvious that the buzz on social media doesn’t tell the full story.
Several reviews pointed out that there was a lack of staff, with a single person manning the entire restaurant. That was a common complaint among the 1-star reviews. The manpower deficit was so bad that plates were left strewn across uncleaned tables, half-drunk cups of tea and coffee left out in the open.

The buffet conditions openly states that they rarely replenish their food, so visitors coming at the tail end of their service hours will have to manage with the meagre leftovers. A video of the spread by a disappointed customer showed that most of the trays were nearly or completely empty. Even the coffee and tea pots were empty.
Is this the price that must be paid for a cheap S$10 buffet? We’ll let you decide for yourself. But if you decide to pay a visit, do note that they do not take reservations and only accept cashless payments.
