Bobby’s Burgers is heading to Kuala Lumpur, and yes, it has already been spotted at The Exchange TRX. Slated to open in March 2026, the Jakarta-born smash burger concept will be making its debut outside Indonesia, with KL as its first international stop.

The brand currently operates three outlets in Jakarta, with another on the way in Surabaya. Its arrival at TRX is a confident step beyond home turf, and a calculated one. I mean, just look at the location alone!

Behind Bobby’s Burgers is Indonesian content creator Ben Sumadiwiria, better known online as Bobby Saputra. The name may ring a bell.

Bobby Saputra is a satirical alter ego, a flamboyant “professional son” who spends lavishly, speaks and acts in exaggerated entitlement that will make Old Money Club boys clutch their pearls, and hands out so-called China Points to whatever meets his approval.
Some Malaysians have begun likening him to our very own Uncle Roger, the character created by local comedian Nigel Ng, who has since built a small restaurant empire across Malaysia.

The offerings at Bobby’s Burgers are just as flashy as his persona. Expect smash burgers made with wagyu beef, fries and fried chicken cooked in 100% beef tallow, and the occasional limited-edition creation featuring foie gras or caviar.
The brand’s motto encourages diners to eat like a billionaire, though the experience is designed to feel light-hearted rather than pretentious (unless if you wanna get method with it, haha).

What often gets overlooked is that behind the character is a trained chef. Sumadiwiria studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and Kuala Lumpur, worked as an in-flight executive chef with Etihad Airways, and cooked professionally across Europe and Asia.
He has also prepared meals for high-profile clients, from musicians to heads of state, long before the internet fame arrived.
That culinary background underpins Bobby’s Burgers. Strip away the theatrics and you have a concept that takes its food seriously, even while pulling out all the stunts.
Come March 2026, The Exchange TRX will be home to Bobby’s Burgers’ first outpost beyond Indonesia. Whether you’re a hater or just along for the ride, Kuala Lumpur is about to get a burger brand with a unique selling point, and a surprisingly solid resume.
