A major fire broke out at the headquarters of popular 15-year-old cafe Caffeinees in Kampung Pandan KL in the evening of 4 March, causing significant damage to the building’s upper floor and sending thick smoke billowing into the surrounding area.

According to the team, the incident happened at around 5.30pm, when flames rapidly spread across the roof and thick smoke began engulfing the building. Within minutes, the top floor was heavily affected. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

In updates shared on Instagram, Caffeinees confirmed that the ground floor of the cafe and Yamaguchi Fish Market were not affected and will continue operating as usual while the damaged section undergoes repairs.
Staff quickly contacted emergency services and began evacuating everyone from the building to ensure no one was put at risk.
Amid the chaos, some employees even attempted to control the fire and rescue important company documents and laptops. However, as the blaze spread quickly, management instructed everyone to stop and evacuate immediately.
“No property is ever worth risking a life,” owner June wrote in a post recounting the incident.

Multiple units from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), along with teams from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and ambulance services, arrived shortly after the emergency call and worked to contain the fire and secure the area.
The team later expressed deep gratitude for the professionalism and courage of the first responders.

The fire has been especially heartbreaking for the team behind Caffeinees, as the upper floor had been part of the cafe’s story for more than a decade. For 15 years, the space had hosted countless memories of celebrations and gatherings with regular customers.
“15 years of hard work turned to ashes in 15 minutes,” June shared, reflecting on how quickly the situation unfolded.
Despite the devastation, she emphasised that the most important thing was that everyone managed to get out safely. “Buildings can be rebuilt. Equipment can be replaced. But lives cannot,” she added.
The team shared a new update on 6 March double-confirming that the ground floor of the cafe is safe to remain open and continue operating as usual. Supporters are also welcomed to visit Black Market, as well as their outlet at Sunway Eight Gourmets Hall (EGG).
