With Hari Raya Puasa approaching on 21 Mar 2026, the MADANI administration, introduced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to reduce poverty and improve public services, has just announced 5 special initiatives on 17 Mar. These relief measures are launched for the sole purpose of alleviating the pressures faced by Malaysians during this festive period, particularly in light of the current global economic uncertainty.
1. 50% off tolls for festive travel

For drivers of private vehicles who need to pass through several toll plazas in order to reach your hometown, you can now breathe a little easier with reduced travel costs! From 18 to 19 Mar 2026, there will be a 50% toll discount across most highways nationwide.
The government will also offset toll concessionaires at a cost of over RM21 million.
Note: The discount is not applicable at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) toll plaza and the Tanjung Kupang toll on the Malaysia-Singapore 2nd link.
2. Cash relief, subsidies & price controls

- There will be an early payout of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) Phase 2, with 5.2 million recipients getting a boost with a total allocation of RM1.3 billion
- From 14 to 28 Mar 2026, a Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme will be launched
- Close to 1,900 Rahmah Sales programmes nationwide to ensure affordable essential goods
- Flysiswa subsidy will be expanded — offering RM400 in flight discounts to more students
- Subsidised cooking oil for Malaysians only to prevent leakages and to ensure subsidies benefit only citizens and lower income groups
3. Stronger financial support & community aid
Moving forward, Civil Servants, Pensioners, Veterans, and over 70,000 community religious workers (including imams, bilais, and KAFA teachers) will receive financial assistance.
4. 4,000 people will be discharged from bankruptcy

The Malaysian Insolvency Department will implement a fast-track initiative to annul bankruptcy for about 4,000 individuals, many of whom are single parents.
5. Additional Raya leave

With more leave granted, Malaysians now have more time to spend with their families and loved ones to travel and create more memories with each other.
