What I tried at the Sunday Epicurean Brunch
I dived right into the heart of the action at Food Capital, where our culinary adventure began. My colleague, Rachel, and I didn’t know where to start as there was so much on offer— not complaining, though!
Kickstart your appetite with a range of cold cuts like the Thai Cured Salmon and Salami Casalingo. Increase your fibre intake with healthy salads such as the Mediterranean Quinoa Salad with Roasted Vegetables.
We tried our hand at the DIY Caesar Salad On Parmesan Wheel. The blend of crunchy Romaine and butterhead lettuce, aromatic pieces of bacon and shredded parmesan reached new heights with the Caesar dressing, infused with rich umami from the anchovies.
Indulge in various sea treasures consisting of Snow Crab Legs, Halved Boston Lobsters, New Zealand Mussels, Tiger Prawns and Scallop with Roe. You can also discover a mix of Irish and Canadian Oysters, freshly shucked by the chef.
Japanese food lovers can enjoy a variety of freshly-fried Tempura, which includes prawns and enoki mushrooms. We also spotted Cold Soba and a plethora of Sushi and Sashimi.
One of my favourites was definitely the Fried Maki Roll, drizzled with loads of Japanese mayo and Takoyaki sauce, then crowned with bonito flakes— such a treat!
We headed over to the European delights section, where the chefs carve up meats like Herb Marinated Prime Rib and Barbecue Veal Rib. Typically, goose liver is rich and some might not like its gamey aftertaste.
However, we were blown away by the Pan-Fried Foie Gras, served with peach salsa and raspberry sorbet. It was perfectly balanced and delicious— kudos to the kitchen team for such a genius combination!
I stuffed myself silly with the Singapore Chilli Crab with Crispy Szechuan Bun. I loved how the sauce leaned towards being spicy and savoury, which paired really well with the crispy and fluffy buns.
We also gave the Singapore Laksa and Sliced Fish Soup a try. The Sliced Fish Soup utilises fresh giant snapper together with fried sole fish slices, tomatoes and cabbage. Flavoured with Chinese wine, we were genuinely impressed by how well-executed the broth was.
One of the must-trys is the Singapore Laksa, which has thick bee hoon, prawns, sliced fishcakes and tau pok drenched in a luscious, yummy broth.
For a change of scenery, head on outdoors to the Riverside Terrace, where a tranquil al fresco ambience overlooking the river awaits you.
While you’re there, snag a whiff of the assortment of barbecued meats, kissed by charcoal in the Josper oven.
Help yourself to tantalising grilled prime Wagyu Beef Ribeye, Australian Lamb Rack and Veal Bratwurst Sausages. Remember to drizzle on some red wine or black pepper sauce to elevate its delectability.
At SanSara, be transported to the vibrant world of exotic Indian flavours with a variety of traditional Awadhi dishes. Let the natural sunlight streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows illuminate your dining experience.
Catch the chefs skewering Mahi Lal Mirch Kebab (mackerel), Hazari Murgh Kebab (chicken) and Aloo Achari Kebab (potato), before cooking them slowly in the tandoor oven.
Feast on Nasi Briyani, Masala Prawns, crispy Papadams and slather on some mint chutney to go along with it.
Switch your palate from savoury to sweet with a lineup of mouth-watering desserts. We checked out the freshly-made Croffles which were served with mango and berry coulis.
One of the highlights was the Yuzu Basque Cheesecake, where richness meets delicacy, adorned with subtle citrusy yuzu notes— it was challenging to stop at just 1 piece!
Thread some strawberries, cantaloupe, and marshmallows onto skewers and have a ball drenching them into the enchanting, ruby-pink strawberry fountain. Or go for the Kahlua Crème Brûlée, Red Velvet Cake and Croissant Bread Butter Pudding with Brandy Sauce.
We also stumbled upon a pretty display of macarons, chocolate treats, and an adorable collection of miniature red bean mochi, modelled after various fruits and vegetables like eggplant, watermelon and pumpkin.
