New in town: HaengBokCakeYo, Kampong Bahru — Dessert boutique with trendy Korean-inspired baked goods

Ever since I sank my teeth into Nanatang’s fatcarons, I’ve never gone back to indulging in French macarons. I’m sorry Chef Clement, but it seems like those thin French macarons that you often speak so highly of can no longer beat these chunky, multi-textured treats that the Koreans have invented.

Once again bringing in the trendy Korean dessert culture to our sunny island is Nanatang’s latest endeavour into Singapore’s cafe scene, HaengBokCakeYo, a walk-in takeaway dessert boutique located in Kampong Bahru Road set to open its doors on 30 April 2021.

A wordplay on the Korean word ‘haeng bok hae yo’ (행복해요) which translate to ‘happiness’ in English, HaengBokCakeYo aims to spark laughter and joy in all their diners the moment they bite into the cafe’s baked goods.

Specially curated to suit the local palate and at the same time showcase the beautiful techniques which define the artistry behind Korean baking trends, HaengBokCakeYo serves up a delectable array of cookies, cakes and fatcarons, baked daily to ensure maximum freshness and retain its scrumptious mouthfeel.

Besides savouring in Nanatang’s speciality K-style Fatcarons (S$3 each, S$15.80 for six) and K-style Fatfatcarons (S$5.80 each, S$19.80 for four), cake lovers can also choose to indulge in the cafe’s Shortcake Slice ($6.80). Available in three flavours—Strawberry, Mango and Mixed Fruits—these cakes feature whipped cream and fresh fruits sandwiched in between layers of soft fluffy sponge cakes. The ideal snack option any time of the day.

Elsewhere, HaengBokCakeYo also offers the Classic Fudgy Brownie (S$6.80) and a selection of Chubby Cookies (S$5.80, S$14.80 for three) for those who are looking for a light bite to go with your cup of coffee or tea.

In an attempt to keep fans coming back for more, HaengBokCakeYo aims to launch different flavours for their baked goods every month. For more information, stay tuned to their social media platforms for all the unique flavours coming your way!
