If there’s one thing most, if not all, Singaporeans can agree on, it’s our love for buttery fried cereal-topped…anything. Whether it’s burying a pile of juicy prawns or deep fried sotong, it’s an undisputed staple order for zi char dinners with the family. And for what it’s worth, I know KFC is an option no one needs to think twice about. I certainly don’t, at least. Nothing quite encapsulates the Singaporean spirit like our love for food, and what better way to celebrate our 56th year of independence than with KFC’s all-new Cereal Chicken?
Now deemed as a ‘crumbstorm of local flavour’ and back to dominate cheat days and family dinners is KFC’s Cereal Chicken (S$3.65). Think of your favourite crispy chicken fried to the golden brown shade of your dreams, tossed in spices, and buried underneath a heap of wok-fried Nestum cereal with slivers of curry leaves and fresh chilli. I just know that your mouth’s watering right now, and if I’m honest? Mine is, too.
KFC’s Cereal Chicken is also available in a 5pc Cereal Buddy Meal (S$19.95) that comes with two regular coleslaw, two regular whipped potato, and two Sjora Mango Peach, so grab a friend, buy fried chicken, and call it self-care.
If the family absolutely can’t wait til the 2-pax dining restrictions are lifted, order in the 8pcs Cereal Family Feast (S$36.95), which includes eight pieces of KFC Cereal Chicken, nine pieces of chicken nuggets, two regular whipped potato and two regular coleslaw.
For an even bigger celebration of local flavours, fans will definitely not want to miss out on the KFC Cereal Fries, available as an à la carte add-on option for S$3.20 or S$4.60. The bar for giving good ol’ French fries a good upgrade is sky high for me, but I’ll admit it—a generous dollop of mayonnaise and a heap of golden Nestum cereal sounds like perfection in physical form.
We’ve already established that the KFC Cereal Chicken is the ultimate ‘treat yourself’ meal, so why not go the whole hog with dessert too? Say hello to the newest addition to KFC’s line of egg tarts—the Ondeh Ondeh Egg Tart (S$1.50), filled with molten brown sugar, fragrant pandan custard, and topped with shredded coconut. Inspired by ondeh ondeh kueh, KFC’s rendition of the local favourite will definitely make the calories worth it.
