The entry of Bangkok’s specialty coffee shop into Singapore could hint at a phenomenal year for work-at-home caffeine heads. Kohi Roastery & Coffee Bar is a new takeaway joint for satiating your thirst for coffee.

Literally a hole-in-the-wall, they’re located at Joo Chiat and occupy a shared space with Crane Joo Chiat. Tucked away near the bright Peranakan shophouses, the glaring, yellow window is impossible to miss. East-siders like me are often spoilt for choice with new sprouting eateries and coffee houses, and Kohi Roastery & Coffee Bar is certainly a good addition to the list!

While they did a soft launch on 18 December 2021, their official grand opening will be in March this year.

For fear of missing out, I made my way there over the weekend to see what the hype was all about (thank you, Instagram stories). I ordered the Iced White, pictured above. Though not as sweet as I’d like it to be (but the friendly and attentive barista fixed that), it was creamy and oh-so-smooth. With this cute li’l joint being so close to where I live, it may just be my next go-to for a coffee pick-up.

Now, this isn’t a place to order a fancy Caramel Latte or Frappuccino loaded with cookie dough and s’mores. Still, their menu is likely to impress a wide variety of coffee takers. Their selection of cold, brewed coffee includes the likes of White, Black and Espresso.

You can also opt for their interesting signatures like the Kohito (ice long black + milk + mint), Ice Espresso Tonic (double dutch tonic + espresso), and Ice Coco(nut) Xspresso (fresh coconut water + espresso). If you don’t have a coffee break in your work from routine, here’s a reason to add one! Plus, you get to explore the beautiful neighbourhood as you sip on your drink.

Not a fan of coffee? They’ve got you covered – choose from Chocolate, Matcha, or Hojicha Latte.

Kohi Roastery & Coffee Bar is operating strictly on a cash-only basis until their full opening, and you can pay whatever you feel like for your drink. How fab is that? It’s the perfect time to dash out for a cuppa before they bring price tags into the mix!
