With the March school holidays being 1 week long, some of us may not have the luxury of time to travel overseas. If you have a child, why not send him or her to a holiday camp?

Holiday camps offer a variety of experiences for your little ones to take a break, combining fun with learning and skill development while fostering social interaction and independence.

Here are 11 March holiday camps in Singapore to keep your little one out of your hair.

1. Chess at Three

Since 2011, Chess at Three has been making it possible for kids to master tricky subjects such as chess through the power of storytelling. If your child likes playing chess, send him or her to their holiday camp from 17 to 21 Mar. All camps are for 5 days (3 hours/day).

They offer the following camps across 3 locations (Novena, Harbourfront, Parkway Parade):

  1. Beginner Camp: Fun From Square One! (Ages 4 to 6, No Prerequisites): Learn all the chess pieces and basic gameplay. Their curriculum comprises fun games and stories.
  2. Math of Chess Camp: The Math Behind the Moves (Ages 6 to 12, Familiar with Checkmate, Castling and Basic Strategy): Learn relative piece valuation and how to integrate it into decision-making. Ascertain how to make good moves on the chessboard.
  3. Chess Masters Camp: Learn from Chess Greats! (Ages 7 to 12, Familiar with Strategy and Piece Valuation): Study complicated opening and endgame strategies. Learn from the tactical brilliance of history’s best players and experiment with creativity.

Customised camps are available upon request, although a minimum of 4 kids are needed.

2. Mind Stretcher

If your child likes expressing him or herself through storytelling, the tuition centre Mind Stretcher has developed holiday camps. Students will hone their skills in public speaking.

They offer the following camps (S$480 each) across 2 locations (Novena and Toa Payoh):

  1. Little Storytellers (7-9 years old) (20, 21 & 23 Mar): Develop the confidence to speak in front of an audience. Learn to tell stories with a beginning, middle and end.
  2. Budding News Anchors (10-12 years old) (17 – 19 Mar): Practice speaking like a news anchor with clear pronunciation, consistent pacing and proper voice modulation.
  3. TEDx Aspiring Speakers (13+ years old) (20, 21 & 23 Mar): Learn how to reduce nervousness and build self-confidence when speaking in front of a crowd with assurance.

If your child has a sibling, bring him or her along to enjoy 5 percent off the course fees.

3. The Mindful Camp

If your child is aged 5 to 7, be mindful of The Mindful Camp’s 5-Day Camp River (S$720) at the Swiss Club. This camp includes lunch and morning/afternoon snacks.

Look forward to group activities (both indoor and outdoor), daily art projects and nature exploration, strategies for deep breathing and relaxation, mindful movements to heal the mind and body, and games to facilitate the development of social-emotional competencies.

Transport service is available from Sixth Avenue MRT for S$60/week and Newton MRT for S$80/week. They also do home pickup (within a certain radius) for S$250/week.

4. BOUNCE Holiday Camp

Originating from Australia, BOUNCE is an indoor adventure park. Featuring a variety of trampoline zones, it caters to everyone from energetic teenagers to adult fitness junkies.

Junior Holiday Camp (S$320/pax) introduces young children between 3 and 6 years old to the basic concept of freestyle trampolining in a safe and fun environment. This can help them to pick up cognitive skills, including problem-solving, spatial awareness and memory.

Their Freestyle Holiday Camp (S$340/pax) is designed for those 7 years and above. Combining dedicated coaching time and correct gymnastic techniques, the program is designed for participants of all skill levels to learn freestyle trampoline skills and tricks.

Both Junior and Freestyle Holiday Camps will be from 17 to 19 Mar, 9am – 12pm.

5. FUN Commune

FUN Commune is working with skating instructor Skate With Us to hold a camp for kids aged 6 to 12. Held from 19 to 21 Mar, 9am – 6pm, it aims to imbue a growth mindset.

Your child’s resilience will be boosted by learning how to bounce back from setbacks and persist during challenges. Your child will also learn to recognise his or her own self-worth through activities such as meditation, inline skating, life skills, horticulture and handicrafts.

If your child is part of their After School Care Services, 1 day of camp will set you back by S$140 and 3 days by S$390. Otherwise, fork out S$210 and S$560 respectively.

6. Singapore Fine Art Studios

If your child has an artistic flair, Singapore Fine Art Studios has a March Holiday Art Camp for Kids (S$250). Held from 15 to 17 Mar, the camp is designed for children between 7 to 12 years old. This holiday camp can allow for a maximum of 12 people.

The camp involves group work where your child can explore cubism art and work in small groups to craft a collective masterpiece. Depending on the weather, they take your kids’ creativity outdoors so they can immerse themselves in sketching the aesthetics of Mother Nature.

Your child can also create their own still life painting during the workshop, and by the end, they will proudly bring home their completed masterpiece. Let your child’s creativity soar!

Materials including pencils, paintbrushes and acrylic paints will be provided, although food will not be given. Bring along a packed lunch, a water bottle and some sunscreen or a hat.

7. Nullspace Robotics

Nullspace Robotics is a provider of robotics and coding education, offering programs for schools, firms, and individuals, with a focus on hands-on learning and engaging activities.

8. Newton Show Camp

If your child enjoys science, enrol him or her in Newton Show’s holiday camp. The camp, which takes place from 3 Mar to 16 May, runs from Mon to Fri, 9am – 4pm.

Held across Newtonshow’s outlets in the Central, West, East, and Novena, the holiday camp (S$685/per week) is designed for those aged 3 to 12. The full price covers materials for lectures, lunch and snacks, a T-shirt and a cap. Door-to-door bus transportation is optional.

The centre has the following camps at the Nanyang Technological University at One-North:

  1. Super Swim Camp (3 to 6 years old) (17 to 20 Mar) (S$400/child): Focus on water discovery and confidence through fun activities in the pool. Develop key physical competencies and become a water-safe and confident swimmer with them this holiday.
  2. Super Swim Camp (7 to 12 years old) (17 to 20 Mar) (S$400/child): Depending on their swimming proficiency, participants will learn to improve their techniques for basic strokes, which include front crawl, backstroke or breaststroke. More advanced swimmers will work on competitive elements of swimming, such as butterfly strokes.

11. HAHA Chinese

If your kid’s Mandarin skills need polishing, send him or her to HAHA Chinese’s March holiday camp. Opened in 2020, HAHA Chinese is a local boutique Mandarin Chinese language school that provides games-based language educational experiences to children.

The March holiday camp, Poets of Tang, runs from 17 to 21 Mar. A Full Week costs S$675, 3 Full Days cost S$485 and 1 Full Day costs S$180. Each camp runs from 9am – 3pm, Mon to Fri. Each class has a maximum of 15 students.

It is a thematic programme for little ones to hone their speaking and reading of Mandarin through a series of fun and engaging hands-on activities such as learning Chinese poems.
