Dear residents in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, are you getting a little bored of the dining options in your neighbourhood? Allow me to share news of a recent addition, Meet & Eat @ 608, a newly-established coffee shop that announced its presence on 11 Nov 2023.
Let’s explore the diverse array of food offered at this new kopitiam. Presently, there is a total of 11 stalls, including a dedicated drinks shop. It’s worth noting that 3 stalls are currently in preparation and are not operational (at time of writing).
For fans of Sin Heng Kee Porridge, they’ve opened another branch here. Although I haven’t had the chance to experience it personally, the perpetually-crowded scenario at their Hougang outlet tells me that it must taste good. Even bossman, Seth, deems it among the best in Singapore.
The menu features an extensive selection of 30 choices to tantalise your taste buds. Treat yourself to options such as the Triple Egg Porridge (S$4.50), Meatball and Sliced Pork Porridge (S$4.50), Dried Chilli Frog Porridge (S$8 for 1 piece, S$15 for 2 pieces), and Century Egg and Peanuts Porridge (S$5).
Boon Chiang Hainanese Chicken Rice sells Steamed Chicken Rice Set (S$5), Thai Style Fried Chicken Rice Set (S$5.80) and side dishes like Oyster Sauce Kailan (S$6) and Thai Style Fried Beancurd (S$3.50/S$4.50).
For delectable Western fare, Icon Steak has over 70 mains and 10 sides for you to choose from. How does a Lemon Garlic Grilled Chicken Steak (S$7.90) or Italian Spicy Butter Crispy Dory Fillet (S$9.90) sound?
There are also 5 kinds of baked rice like Seafood Baked Rice (S$9.90) and Truffle Ham & Mushroom Baked Rice (S$7.50). Pair them with your choice of sauce— Tomato, Tom Yum or Spicy Butter Cream.
No Monkey Business is a vegetarian stall at Meet & Eat @ 608 that serves economical bee hoon and rice options from 6am to 2pm. The establishment used to be located at The Venue Shoppes at Tai Thong Crescent but has ceased operations.
For lunch and dinner meal periods, the menu will be switched up to offer stir-fried dishes such as Original Char Kway Teow (S$6.80), Old School Fried Hokkien Mee (S$6.80) and Signature Hor Fun In Silky Gravy (S$6.80).
Coming across live crabs in a tank at a zi char stall within a coffee shop is a common sight. However, Seafood Kitchen houses multiple tanks showcasing an assortment of live seafood, including prawns, geo duck and fish (available at market rate).
This stall remains open till 2am, providing a convenient spot to satisfy your late-night cravings.
If seafood isn’t your cup of tea, you can also find other delights including Marmite Chicken (S$15 for small), Spinach Century Egg (S$12 for small), Hong Kong Noodle (S$6 for small) and Indonesian Fried Rice (S$8 for small).
The kopitiam also has a mixed veg rice and kway chap stall located side-by-side.
The signages for ABC Indian Muslim Food, Ze Ji Fishball Noodles and Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang are already up but the stalls aren’t operational yet.
