Legends never die. Singaporeans around 42 Sam Leong Road may recall a humble stall called Middle Road Pork Rib Prawn Mee, flooding their minds with memories of prawn broth warming their soul. They may also recall the despair they felt once the stall closed its doors.
Well, despair no more. Like a phoenix (or prawn) rising from the ashes, Middle Road Pork Rib Prawn Mee will be reopening on 11 Sep 2025 at Kim San Leng Coffeeshop on Owen Road!

The stall is currently being run by second-generation owners who inherited it, and they serve every bowl of prawn mee with the same passion their forefathers did. It has a history spanning a storied 58 years, and it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
The owners originally announced their closure through the stall’s Instagram page, stating that renovations in the coffee shop where they reside caused their closure. Their final day of operation was 5 Jan 2025, but they did promise an eventual return sometime in the future.

Their Pork Rib Prawn Mee (S$4) has a unique take on the prawn mee formula. By cooking the broth with pork ribs, they infuse it with an umami-filled, meaty taste that complements the richness of the prawn broth.
The meat is so tender that it melts in your mouth, and the noodles absorb just the right amount of peppery soup. It’s no wonder this is the comfort food of so many people.
Regulars often praise the stall for its generosity with the prawn and meat, never short-changing the customers.

With their new stall under construction, you have time to plan out your visit. Do take note, however, that their opening hours are from 8am – 2pm, with long queues to be expected. It’s the perfect breakfast to perk you up or lunch to boost your day.
