Closures of restaurants and hawker stalls have become increasingly common of late. With many popular eateries pulling down their shutters for good, folks are left wondering if their favourite place is next. Ministry Of Rojak is bucking the trend by reopening at Northpoint City on 25 May 2023.

When this rojak joint announced their closure back in January 2023, many were devastated at the loss of their beloved Indian rojak. Since then, Ministry Of Rojak had been setting up booths at pasar malams, including our recently-featured Bazaar Lambak. They have also been doing private catering and that has been doing exceptionally well, as seen on their social media channels.

However, their new joint will be available to satisfy your rojak cravings if you frequent Northpoint City. Funnily enough, the previous Ministry Of Rojak was also located at Northpoint City. Its old space is now occupied by Xin Yuan Ji, which sells the famous fish soup at Bugis.

For those who are not aware, Ministry Of Rojak has a long history. Wanting to continue his late father’s legacy, Mr. Abdhus Salam opened up this rojak stall in commemoration of his father’s famed business, Abdhus Salam Rojak (which is currently still running). It seems that not just the rojak gravy is sweet here.

The way this casual eatery operates reminds me of yong tau foo, with shelves of ingredients to choose from. With 19 different selections that include Crispy Prawn Fritters (S$2.80) and Coconut Flour Fritters (S$1.20), the idea of picking whatever you want and skipping the rest sounds like a picky eater’s dream!

Not to worry for the indecisive folks as there are Rojak Sets (S$16 for 1-2 pax or S$26 for 2-3 pax) that you can order as well.

Ministry Of Rojak also has Signature Gorengs for some extra carbs. Noodles (Soup, Dry) are priced at S$6 while Rice costs S$6.50. There are even combos like the Rice Goreng with Chicken Chop (S$14.50) that are better value than if you were to order the 2 separately.

I’m sure that Northpoint City will have quite the crowd starting 25 May 2023. I may be there myself— just imagining dipping fried goods into that savoury sweet sauce is making my mouth water.
