Joining the likes of Sando Singapore is a new kid on the block—Moe Moe Sandwich. Conceived during the most unprecedented times during our ‘Circuit Breaker’ period, this deliver-only sandwich shop offers a variety of sweet and savoury wanpaku sandos (“energetic” sandwiches) that are not only filled with nutrients but also makes for a picturesque post for the ‘gram.

The creation of three sandwich enthusiasts from Japan and Singapore, Moe Moe Sandwich retails twelve tantalising Japanese-inspired sandwiches that are busting with ingredients. With a vast assortment of flavours, there will definitely be a sandwich that will suit your liking.

If you are a fan of the classic egg sandwich sold at convenient stores scattered around Japan, Moe Moe Sandwich’s Genki-mori Truffle Egg Sandwich (S$16.80) will win you over in an instant. This simple sandwich was made more satisfying with the addition of truffle that exuded subtle nutty notes throughout the creamy egg mixture.

Encasing the rich tamago salad were two soft and fluffy premium Nama Shoku-pan (white toast bread) freshly made using Japanese flour, whipping cream, and butter. The milky sweetness of the bread paired perfectly with the egg, resulting in a wholesome sandwich that can be enjoyed any time of the day.

Moe Moe Sandwich’s Manpuku Steak Sandwich (S$26.80) features a full-sized Angus beef steak stacked with burned mozzarella, red capsicum, onions, and lettuce. Although the sandwich came slightly cold, I was surprised by how tender the steak remained. The meat had a clean beefy taste with a nice springiness that was easy to bite through.

The burned mozzarella added a layer of smokiness while the red capsicum contributed to a tinge of sweetness tying the entire flavour profile of the sandwich together. Due to its sheer size and the generous amount of ingredients, this Manpuku Steak Sandwich is certainly a meal on its own!

Never would I expect myself to order a veggie sandwich especially with all the meat options available, however, one bite into the Mori-mori Vegetable Sandwich (S$19.80) and I am now a convert. Consisting of a huge portobello mushroom, pumpkin, red capsicum, carrots, and purple cabbage, this vegetarian sandwich was an explosion of colours and textures.

The mushroom had a rustic and smoky flavour, which went hand in hand with the nectarous sweetness of the capsicum and pumpkin. The best part of this sandwich was the crunch I got in between the chewiness attributed to the addition of shredded cabbage and carrots.

For those looking for a healthier alternative, go for the Mori-mori Vegetable Sandwich. Trust me, even without any protein, this sandwich will fill you up. It will leave you feeling full and satisfied—without any guilt.

How can we miss out on the highly raved-about fruit sando when we are talking about Japanese sandwiches? A popular sweet treat in Japan, fruit sandwiches are also gaining popularity worldwide all thanks to their versatility and vibrant, dazzling colours.

Available in two variants, the Moe-moe Orange Blossom (S$6.80) and Moe-moe Strawberry Blossom (S$6.80), both the fruit sandos were packed with whipped cream, grapes, kiwi slices, and orange or strawberry.

Flavour-wise, I had no complaints. I mean, what can go wrong with fruits and whipped cream? Moe Moe Sandwich’s special whipped cream was smooth, light, and airy. It was only slightly sweetened, resulting in a sandwich that had an ideal sweet-sour balance.

If a full fruit sandwich is a bit too much for an after-meal dessert, then you can opt for the Shittori Cookie Raisin-wich (S$5.80). In between two butter cookies was a mountain of cream cheese and raisin filling that had a rum and raisin-like taste which I thoroughly enjoyed.

My only regret was that the butter cookies were slightly soggy after the delivery and thus, it lost the crunch which I was anticipating. Furthermore, I also feel that the size of the Shittori Cookie Raisin-wich could be a little bigger to justify its price.
