Monster Curry has opened its first outlet in Malaysia at The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur. The Japanese curry brand is already well known in Singapore with more than 10 outlets, and has also expanded into Indonesia.

The concept is simple — big plates, rich curry, generous portions. Monster Curry focuses on Japanese curry rice served with its signature demi-glace sauce, cooked slowly with 14 vegetables and spices.
The flavour is deep and savoury — more comforting than spicy — though diners can choose from 5 spice levels depending on their tolerance. There are two plate sizes. A 35cm plate works for one person, while the larger 41cm plate is meant for sharing between 2 to 3 diners.

The Super Monster Combo (RM68.90) is the menu’s biggest statement. Designed for sharing, it includes teppanyaki beef with onions and yakiniku sauce, fried chicken cutlet with okonomiyaki sauce, breaded fish fillet with mayo, ebi fry, omelette, and flame-torched mozzarella cheese. It’s a full spread on one oversized plate.
Another option for groups is the Monster Egg Combo (RM58.90). This one layers omelette, onsen egg, torched cheese, fried chicken thigh, Japanese pepper, and mayonnaise. It’s rich, filling, and clearly meant to be indulged together.

If you’re keeping things straightforward, the Chicken Katsu Curry (RM25.90) is a good place to start. The chicken is breaded and fried until crispy, then served with the house curry and okonomiyaki sauce.

The menu goes beyond rice too. Monster Curry serves curry ramen, with options ranging from the basic Curry Ramen (RM23) to versions topped with chicken karaage or chicken katsu, priced up to RM26.90.
There’s also a small pasta section for those who want something different. Choices include Aglio Olio Feast Pasta, Prawny Shrooms Pasta, Japanese Carbonara, and Curry Seafood Infusion Pasta, with prices between RM22.90 and RM25.90.
With its large portions and familiar Japanese curry flavours, the opening of Monster Curry adds another casual dining option to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia’s growing Japanese food scene. And if nothing else, it’s a place where leaving hungry would be hard to manage.
