Raffles City is home to so many fantastic F&B joints like Omoté or TAG Espresso. So, it is rather exciting news that newcomer Nasi Don has opened up their second outlet here on 14 Jun 2023.

Serving fusion Japanese nasi lemak, this stall is still rather fresh; they opened their first stall just recently in May 2023. With their second one established, folks will be eager to hear that a third outlet is coming soon.

Smack in the centre of Singapore’s busy Central Business District (CBD), Nasi Don serves our classic nasi lemak with a Japanese twist, fusing important elements of both to create an intriguing fusion dish. Considering how crowded their outlets are, it looks like the curiosity factor makes for big business.

For each bowl, Japanese pearl rice comes with a combination of toppings like peanuts and sambal, onsen egg and pickled radish. Fear not, as the rice is coconut-flavoured too. Perfect dual representation of nasi lemak and Japanese cuisine, is it not?

Each meal comes with different combinations of protein — chicken, beef, seafood or pork. The basic, yet substantial choice would be Nasi Don’s Nasi Don (S$4.90), containing fried sotong.

For those who want the authentic Singaporean taste, choices like Rendang Beef (S$7.90) or Muah Otah (S$6.90) will suit your fancy with their classic local flavours.

Personally, I would be sure to try out the wacky-sounding Blackpink Calamari (S$7.90). It is black fried squid with pink sauce slathered all over. Just looking at that strange colour combination makes me immensely curious about what it could possibly taste like.

However, there are safer options like Honey Thyme Chicken Leg (S$7.90) and Mentaiko Fish (S$7.90). Better be safe than sorry, some may say.

With its affordable yet quirky dishes, I can see why Nasi Don gets the hype around Singapore. Corporate individuals or frequenters to the CBD, be sure to head down to see what this fusion joint has to offer!
