Opened 2 months after the closure of OnlyCreamery Cafe on May 27 last year, Toa Payoh’s OC Cafe has met its end as well. Though the space has been downsized to a 40-seat area, keeping his café open proves difficult for the Singaporean influencer and his popular “Salty White Stuff” ice cream.

I’m typing this carefully because C is dangerously close to another letter on the QWERTY keyboard. Just saying. However, OC Cafe’s interior embraces the homely and comfy vibes we’ve seen in other heartland establishments.
It’s a pretty stark difference from the loud turquoise walls and modern, angular furniture at the original café’s Chinatown storefront.

The café, which is also co-owned by 2 other business partners, saw a 40% dip in rent as compared to the Chinatown outlet. While Titus had stated high rental costs as the reason for the shuttering of his previous venture, he has yet to make a statement on OC Cafe’s closure.
In fact, their official Facebook account has not made a new post since OC Cafe’s grand opening on 6 Sep last year. Furthermore, the café’s official Instagram page has been taken down (at the time of writing).

OC Cafe’s rebranding had hoped to reach their new residential crowd by including baked goods in their repertoire. They featured cakes, pastries and of course, their ice creams. However, the number of flavours offered had decreased to 18.
Wind of the closure came through a netizen’s post on Facebook, showing a picture of the closed store and partially cleared interior. While some of the furniture like long tables and display cases still litter the edges of the establishment, all the smaller tables have disappeared.
Electrical appliances have also been unplugged, and the store’s Google site lists it as “permanently closed”. Right now, we can only wait for more information to come from the business owners. Will OC Cafe see another rebranding or even a sister outlet? Only time will tell.
