When it comes to cooking, I can’t help but think of the movie Ratatouille. In one of the film’s pivotal moments, a rotund and chubby-cheeked Chef Gusteau proclaims to Remy (the film’s main protagonist) that ‘Anyone can cook!’. This idea is thoroughly explored throughout the film, and it’s an ethos that we can all get behind.
While we are staying at home and keeping it safe, I do miss going out to my favourite restaurants and treating myself. However, with Sadia’s extensive range of products, recreating these meals is just as easy and satisfying.
We begin with the most important meal of the day: breakfast. Or if you happen to roll out of bed a little later, it’s now brunch—and between you and me, that’s preferred.
Preparation time: 2 minutes; Cooking time: 7 – 8 minutes
Step 1: Heat frying pan to medium heat and add in a dollop of oil.
Step 2: Place Sadia Nuernberger Chicken Sausages on to the pan and allow them to crisp up. This will take about 3 – 4 minutes.
Step 3: When sausages have been cooking for about 2 minutes, crack two eggs into the pan.
Step 4: (Optional) While eggs are being cooked, slice up the tomato and toss it into the pan as well. Make sure they get a little charred for more flavour.
Step 5: Once sausages are nice and crispy, remove them from the pan and let the eggs cook to preferred doneness.
There you have it, a hearty breakfast for one and it took less than 10 minutes.
The sausages were crispy on the outside and tender in the centre. These sausage links were also well-seasoned and not too salty, which was definitely a plus point for me.
Dip the sausage in the jammy egg yolk, and you’ll start your day right. An effortless breakfast for you to conquer the day ahead.
When the afternoon munchies come around, I like to keep things simple and fuss-free. However, that doesn’t mean it’s plain or boring. For lunch, here is a Deconstructed Chicken Cordon Bleu to perk you up. Plus, you’ll only need an air fryer or a frying pan.
Preparation time: 2 minutes; Cooking time: 14 minutes
Step 1: Place 1 Sadia Breaded Chicken Cutlet into the air fryer for 12 minutes.
Step 2: When the cutlet is ready, remove it from air fryer or pan. Be careful, as the cutlet is hot.
Step 3: Layer slices of ham over cutlet and top with mozzarella slices.
Step 4: Place into air fryer for 2 minutes or until cheese melts.
Step 5: Plate with a side salad for some greens, if not, you can enjoy on its own.
This certainly perked me up and made me feel like I was in a cafe. I mean, cheese on everything is always great.
Given that Sadia uses the whole chicken leg for their cutlets, each bite was juicy and tender. I also appreciated how thick and crispy the cutlet was. Not to mention, I only needed a few simple ingredients to elevate the dish.
This recipe is undoubtedly an excellent way to wind down after working hard all morning. Moreover, since each packet contains a few cutlets, you can prepare these in a jiffy and impress your family members too.
For dinner, it’s time to bust out the big boys and show off your cooking skills. Plus, you want to reward yourself for getting through the day. So, this simple Gourmet Mushroom Chicken Burger would do the trick.
While this recipe has more ingredients, it’s just as easy as the previous meals.
Preparation time: 10 minutes; Cooking time: 15 minutes
Step 1: Heat frying pan to medium heat and add in a little oil.
Step 2: Place patties in pan and fry on each side for about 7 minutes or until nicely browned.
Step 3: In the meantime, slice mushroom thinly and butter each side of hamburger buns.
Step 4: Once the patties are done, remove from pan and set aside.
Step 5: Sauté mushrooms until they develop good colour.
Step 6. Shift to one side of pan and toast buns. While the buns are toasting, cut the tomato into slices and set aside.
Step 7: Remove buns from pan once they develop good colour.
Step 8: Drape a slice of cheese over mushrooms and allow to melt over. You can warm patties up in pan if desired.
Step 9: Begin assembling burger. A slice of cheese, followed by a Sadia burger patty, tomato, cheesy mushroom mixture, salad mix and top it with the burger bun.
There you have it, a simple gourmet burger with a gooey cheesy mushroom centre that looks like it came from any burger joint.
With this burger, you have to pay attention to the little details, which is precisely what we’ve done here. Usually, I’m not one to go for chicken patties for fear that they run a tad dry. However, Sadia’s chicken patty was thick, succulent and juicy—I couldn’t get enough.
Not to mention, these patties are already seasoned with rosemary and thyme (a winning combination), so that saves a step.
With the influx of cooking videos flooding the Internet, sometimes it can add unnecessary pressure to create an entire epicurean feast at home. Given that we are living in uncertain and stressful times, you’ll want your meal times to be uncomplicated and still satisfying—and I think Sadia hits the nail on the head.
If this has sufficiently whet your appetite, we have also come up with a couple of simple stay-home recipes to hone your cooking skills. Bon appétit!
Expected Damage: S$6 – S$8 per meal
