First dibs: Well Collective — Japanese-inspired pet-friendly cafe with inviting atmosphere and delicious healthy food

With all the hustle and bustle of life in Singapore, sometimes, there’s nothing better than to unwind in a relaxing cafe. The newly-opened Well Collective is a space that was designed for customers to practice wellness over a delicious yet healthy meal or drink.

A while back, I wrote an article about the opening of Well Collective, and soon after, I got the opportunity to visit the cafe for myself to experience it.

Located within Northshore Plaza II in Punggol, Well Collective has a spacious and incredibly inviting atmosphere. Customers are even welcome to work or study in the cafe on weekdays during non-peak periods, and the interior is designed with the intent of allowing patrons to dine and relax in a stress-free and non-constrictive environment.

There’s even an outdoor al fresco dining area where pet-owners can dine with their fur-babies!

The dishes served at Well Collective come with healthier options, as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free varieties.

Well Collective serves a variety of Japanese and Western dishes. Their starters include the Torched Pitan Tofu (S$10), a vegetarian dish made with Japanese tofu, pitan (century egg) sauce, pitan crumbs, fried garlic and spring onions, and Mid Wings w/ Yuzu Chilli Sauce (S$13), featuring crispy chicken wings with a yuzu chilli glaze and garlic crumbs.

The Torched Pitan Tofu was incredibly light and refreshing, with a creamy texture from the pitan. The Mid Wings w/ Yuzu Chilli Sauce were outstanding as they were juicy and crispy, with the acidity of the yuzu balancing out the sweetness of the sauce nicely. I was even more impressed to learn that the wings were air-fried instead of being deep-fried!

well collective - mains

Well Collective has both Asian and Western mains, like the Barramundi w/ Miso Sauce (S$28), No Chicken Katsu Sando (S$19) and Madame’s Truffled Egg Croissant (S$19).

The No Chicken Katsu Sando consisted of toasted sourdough bread, a plant-based “chicken” cutlet, yuzu kosho mayo, in-house pickled daikon and fried kale. I was surprised at how similar the taste and texture of the plant-based cutlet was to actual meat. The other elements of the No Chicken Katsu Sando were full of flavour, with the pickled daikon adding a sour crunch to the whole sando.

Meanwhile, Madame’s Truffled Egg Croissant was filled with a heaping amount of creamy scrambled eggs, emmental cheese, bechamel and nicely seasoned with truffle oil and some black truffle shavings. The truffle taste was strong yet not overpowering, and the creaminess of the eggs and bechamel paired perfectly with the soft croissant.

well collective - desserts

Dessert lovers like myself will be spoilt for choice, as Well Collective offers a beautiful selection of sweet treats to end your meal, such as their Sakura Tofu Cheesecake (S$8), Strawberry Chiffon Sando (S$9), Passionfruit Meringue Tart (S$9.50), Matcha Basque Burnt Cheesecake (S$8) and Creme Brulee French Toast (S$19).

The Sakura Tofu Cheesecake was light with a soft and jelly-like texture, while the Matcha Basque Burnt Cheesecake was rich, creamy and had an earthy matcha flavour. The Strawberry Chiffon Sando was impressive too, as it was light, fluffy and not too sweet. My favourite was the Passionfruit Meringue Tart, which had a lovely citrus flavour and a fragrant, buttery crust.

The calming atmosphere and delicious, wholesome dishes at Well Collective make it the perfect spot to get together with loved ones, to work and study, or even to just unwind alone. I would certainly return in the future!
