A fresh face in Yuhua Village Food Centre, Steamed Fish Fun rolled open its shutters sometime in Jul 2025. It’s the latest venture of celebrity chef Cao Yong, who also helms Gong Xi Fa Cai Eating House in the same premises.

Its whimsical name is a transliteration of its Chinese one: 蒸鱼坊 (zheng yu fang, meaning “steamed fish city”). Very apt, given how the stall specialises in a mouthwatering variety of steamed fish sets that’ll leave both your tummy and wallet thoroughly satisfied. And how they’ve got customers raving too.

Charity business,” reads one glowing 5-star Google review among several this new entrant’s already received. We joke all the time about how expensive fish can get in Singapore — well, not here. Steamed Fish Fun offers generous single pax sets priced from just S$6.80, each complete with a bowl of fluffy pearl rice, silky steamed egg and a hefty slab of fish in your choice of flavour.

The stall offers 2 types of fresh fish: Seabass and the slightly more “premium” Mangrove Jack. Each comes  in 4 delicious flavours: Hong Kong Style (S$6.80 Seabass, S$8.80 Mangrove Jack Tail)Soy Bean Sauce (S$7.80/S$9.80)Nyonya Style (S$7.80/S$9.80) and Chopped Chilli (S$7.80/S$9.80).

If you’re after something simple yet wholesome, the Hong Kong Style is a winner. This classic sees the fish topped with aromatics and doused in a light, soy-based sauce, leaving its flesh tender, moist and savoury.Prefer a brighter, tangier profile? The Nyonya Style variation features a piquant assam-style sauce that’ll tickle your tastebuds.

For larger appetites or if you have company, Steamed Fish Fun also offers a Family Portrait Set (S$17.80). Perfect for sharing, this feast includes fish alongside a medley of prawn, scallops, la la clams and meat patties.

Good fish, good value and good vibes — this stall’s a triple threat for your next hearty meal.
