Teck Hin Fishball Noodle has been in business for at least 50 years, and it seems that 2025 may be their last year of operations. The stall made the news in 2024 after the story of how they relocated multiple times after they had to leave Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre, which was slated for demolition.

After moving a total of 3 more times, it seemed Teck Hin Fishball Noodle had finally found a (permanent) home in Ang Mo Kio – until a post appeared on their Facebook page announcing their closure.

The post began by saying that Teck Hin’s final day of operations would be 15 May 2025

“Our dear Uncle Tan, the heart and soul of Teck Hin, has been facing some health challenges recently,” Teck Hin Fishball Noodle’s post read. “His memory isn’t what it used to be, and managing the stall has become an uphill task for him. We’ve always believed in serving you the best, and with Uncle Tan’s condition, we feel it’s best to say our goodbyes.”

Teck Hin is known for its handmade fishballs, which the owner, Mr Tan Hay Yam, still insists on making from scratch every morning. He starts as early as 2am, using fresh yellowtail which he processes into a paste to make his fishballs from. Despite the option to use machinery to expedite the process and his age, he still insists on doing it all by hand. He believes that the resulting texture is more “QQ”.

Teck Hin’s announcement concludes with a heartfelt message: “This is our final goodbye, but the memories we’ve created will forever remain in our hearts. Thank you for being a part of our Teck Hin family. We’ll miss you.”
