The stars of the show are, of course, the Chicken Yakitori. Start with go-to picks of Chicken Breast (S$4.50) and Chicken & Green Onions (S$5) yakitori for juicy, meaty skewers coated in yakitori sauce. The former offers a uniquely springy texture while green onions add a touch of mild sweetness.

Other skewers include Gizzard (S$4.50), Skin (S$4.50), Cartilage (S$4.50) and Chicken Meatballs (S$4.50), with a seafood option of Oysters (S$7). Add a dab of their yuzu and ume kosho condiments for a punchy depth. Grilled vegetables round out Toko Yakitori’s selection of skewers like Asparagus (S$7), Zucchini (S$7), Whole Shimonita Leek (S$12) and Broccoli Tempura (S$4).

Toko Yakitori - Yellowtail Carpaccio with Yuzu Pepper

Whet your appetite with entrees like Yellowtail Carpaccio with Yuzu pepper (S$18), served as thinly-sliced yellowtail sashimi with toppings of yuzu pepper and light sprinkles of salt for a more intense flavour complexity.

Whole Fruit Tomato Salad (S$9) plops fresh tomatoes from Kochi prefecture on a bed of house-made sauce onion sauce for a refined sweet and savoury experience.

Toko Yakitori - Chicken Stock Ramen small portion

For beloved Japanese classics to accompany your yakitori feast, they have Chicken Stock Ramen small portion (S$12) with thin ramen noodles and a touch sweeter on the broth.

Toko Yakitori - Iwao Chef Curry small portion

Iwao Chef Curry small portion (S$8) fully embraces the natural sweetness from carrots, apples, mangoes, and papaya to deliver a tender, braised beef curry that goes light on the spice, if at all.

Toko Yakitori - Chicken Wing Gyoza

Chicken Wing gyoza (S$9) is a more unique dish, presented as meat-stuffed wings that have been deep fried and served with a tangy condiment of onion and garlic. If you’re looking for another rice dish, Oyako don small portion (S$6) uses velvety eggs sourced from Okinawa to achieve a harmonious blend of flavours.

A proper yakitori session can’t go without drinks. Pair the skewers with sake like Dassai Junmai Daiginjyo (S$$150 for 720ml), Yoshinogawa Sakagurano Awayuki (S$35 for 300ml) or Kaku Highball (S$8) cocktail and Gensen Plum Wine (S$8). Some non-alcoholic beverages include Orange Juice (S$4), Houji Tea (S$2), and Ginger Ale (S$4).
