New in town: Woodlands pasar malam serves Korean corndogs and fancy milkshakes

With the recent two Hari Raya pasar malams that just ended in the Woodlands vicinity, the folks residing in that area have yet another exciting pasar malam that starts from 27 May to 27 June 2022. With the mid-year school holidays happening, I am sure the peeps at Woodlands will be jumping up and down, rejoicing with delight. Why are you guys so lucky?

With the recent easing of restrictions by the government, Singaporeans are delighted that pasar malams are slowly returning to our island. Over the past 2 years, large public events were halted due to the recent pandemic. Many of us have been missing out on such activities. But now, with loads of yummy treats, amusement rides, fun fair activities and a lively joyous atmosphere, pasar malams are back to being a hot favourite among people of all ages.

The pasar malam is located right smack outside Woodlands MRT station, just next to Causeway Point. Visitors can expect to find a wide variety of exciting food and beverage stalls. They include The Famous Vadai Uncle, Teochew Meat Puff Pte Ltd, and Abang Jago that will be serving up fancy burgers like burger cheese tarek.

For those that love Korean cheese corn dogs, Mango Bossku has a wide range of flavours available such as Moza Cheetos (S$5.00)— full cheese, cheetos and spicy powder. If your mouth is on fire after eating that, you can cool it off with their Mango Float (S$5.90 for 700ml and S$8.90 for one litre).

To beat the sweltering heat, Make Shake offers interesting local-flavoured milkshakes such as bandung and sweet corn, and their signature bubble gum which will be a hit with the kids, for just S$5.00 each.

Muslim-owned Milk Singapore, which is a bubble tea shop at Arab Street will also be there selling massive one litre mango and coconut shakes. Their flavoured iced teas and milk shakes are also sold in the same huge size, perfect for sharing with a friend. All for just S$6.00 each.

The field located near Woodlands MRT station exit 3 will be transformed into a funfair which will house various fun rides such as the pirate ship, mini ferris wheel, carousel etc. Kids can look forward to the various games such as claw machines and mini fishing.

For those who used to visit the Sungei Road Thieves Market which no longer exists, there is even a small section of vendors selling vintage watches and other knick knacks that they have placed on the ground with makeshift mats that makes you reminisce about the old place.
