As a avid lover of Korean cuisine, I’m constantly on the lookout for new places to get my weekly fix of Korean BBQ and warm hearty kimchi stews. For newly opened restaurants and eateries serving authentic K-eats, Tanjong Pagar is most often the best place to be. Well, at least it is where our island’s latest jjajangmyeon place, Itaewon Jjajang, is located at.

Having tried almost all the jjajangmyeon in Singapore, I have to admit that O.BBa Jjajang has been a long-standing winner in my heart and is one that is difficult to beat. Yet lately, due to its crazy queue situation, I’ve started to avoid visiting the eatery and often opt for other options instead. Now I’m glad to be able to add Itaewon Jjajang as another alternative into my list.

Decked in shades of brown with a mix of wooden structures and brickworks, the restaurant exudes a homely vibe with its minimalistic use of furniture and decorations. Main dining hall aside, Itaewon Jjajang is also home to four private dining areas suitable for intimate gatherings and meals.

What better way is there to celebrate their opening than with special offers and set menus? Suitable for two pax, Itaewon Jjajang’s Set A (S$45) features a bowl of their signature Jjajangmyeon, Tangsuyuk, and a choice of Jjampong or a Korean stew (Kimchi Stew, Sundubu Stew or Doenjang Stew).

If sweet and sour pork is not to your liking, you can always try Set B (S$55), a set that features a mouthwatering plate of Kkanpunggi (spicy garlic fried chicken), alongside a bowl of Jjajangmyeon, and a choice of Jjampong or a Korean stew (Kimchi Stew, Sundubu Stew or Doenjang Stew).

Whilst I might not have tried the dishes served at Itaewon Jjajang, I sure am intrigued to visit just by their enticing opening price alone. I mean, there’s always no harm trying something new, isn’t it?
