Let’s talk about hardworking individuals that grit their teeth to achieve what they want. The owner of Kin Sen Thai Noodle is the epitome of a diligent foreigner who opened her own hawker stall at Coffee Sense Coffeeshop in Ang Mo Kio.

They are listed under the stall header “Thai Food” in the coffeeshop.

The owner comes from Chiang Mai, Thailand, and opened the stall with intent of selling authentic Northern Thailand food— a cuisine that is not the most common in Singapore. What Singaporeans are most familiar with are Southern dishes like pineapple fried rice, pad thai, pad see ew and so on, which are already commonly loved amongst Singaporeans.

The stall is a new inclusion to the Ang Mo Kio neighbourhood, as they only opened in Aug 2022. With them, they give us a fresh new taste and perspective of authentic Thai food from different areas.

They have a total of 16 dishes that you can choose from. The menu is so large that they can’t even fit it all in the header!

Khao Soi (S$6) is a speciality dish in Northern Thailand and one of the few signature dishes available at Kin Sen Thai Noodle. Listed as Northern Thai Curry Chicken Noodle, laksa lovers or curry chicken noodle lovers will definitely want to try this out.

Unlike laksa, the dish has an aromatic taste of spices like in red curries, with a mixture of a prominent lemak taste. It’s supposed to be a hybrid of red and green curries, so that explains it.

Containing 2 chicken drumlettes, pickled vegetables and more than a mouthful of flat egg noodles, the dish was easily savoured because of the creamy curry. Thais love to add lime and cilantro in their broths, so expect some tanginess as well.

The next dish we tried was Thai Noodle Pork (Thick soup) (S$5.50), which can be commonly thought of as beef noodles. In this dish, the pork is slow-cooked till it reaches a thickened texture and is accompanied by Thai vermicelli that soaks in its incredible broth.

One bite in and you’ll discover its incredible layers of salty crunchiness from minced pork lard and the herbaceous nature of the herb-packed broth. This is so incredibly comforting to have.

With that, we really love to try out new flavours that add to our diversified food scene like how Kin Sen Thai Noodle did. Spreading international love, always!
