Swensen’s has done it yet again— they’re back with hyper-realistic food-lookalike ice creams. This time, they have released a Rice Dumpling Ice Cream in celebration of the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival.

The chain had previously launched Fried Chicken Ice Cream that took the internet by storm, and now their new Rice Dumpling Ice Cream sports both an exterior and interior that bear an uncanny resemblance to real bak chang.

From the “bamboo leaves” and “woven string” wrapping the bak chang to even a golden “egg yolk”, Swensen’s is serious in replicating the beloved dumpling to a T.

Their latest creations, the Rice Dumpling Ice Cream is going at S$17.60 for a 2 piece Set or S$8.80 per piece. They are available for dine-in and takeaway (as a pair) at all Swensen’s and Earle Swensen’s outlets until 22 Jun 2023 (while stocks last).

The new Genmaicha Rice Dumpling Ice Cream contains a salted egg chocolate bon bon to pair with the refreshing aroma of the roasted brown rice flavoured ice cream. The unique combination of salted egg, roasted rice and chocolate actually sounds very appealing; I’d love to get my hands on these “bak chang”!

Swensen’s had previously launched the Pulut Hitam Rice Dumpling Ice Cream in 2022 and have brought it back yet again by popular demand. This chang houses purple coconutty ice cream with bits of black glutinous rice to emulate pulut hitam. It has the same salted egg chocolate bon bon as the Genmaicha Rice Dumpling Ice Cream.

If you want to pull a sneaky prank on your friends, Swensen’s Cookies “N” Cream “Fried Chicken” Ice Cream (Box of 8pcs) (S$47.00) is perfect for you. These fried chicken lookalikes also comes in two other flavours— Vanilla and Sticky Chewy Choco.

Thought that was the end of the ice cream food saga? Think again. Swensen’s “Nugget” Ice Cream (6pcs) (S$8.80) filled with vanilla ice cream is bound to make you question reality, too.

Get your hands on these adorable bak chang ice creams while you can, and I’m excited to see what other creative ice cream food renditions Swensen’s has in store for us!
