From 11 Dec to 4 Jan, one of Singapore’s biggest year-end events is back. Togetherland by World Christmas Market is now open at the Bayfront Event Space, hosting 9 festive zones in an expanded festival ground. Here are our thoughts after visiting the event on its first day.
Festive vibes

If you’re looking for the festive spirit in Singapore, you’ll certainly find it here. Togetherland is filled with photo spots decorated with brightly lit reindeer, real Christmas trees and tall candy canes. The only things missing were, of course, cold weather and snow.

One thing you should check out is this Candy Cane Lane. Catch it at the right moment and you will have a clear backdrop of candy canes and Christmas trees, perfect for a solo or group photo.
Delicious stars of the show

However, the biggest zone at Togetherland is Dasher’s Festive Feast, which features a spacious outdoor dining area and over 40 food & beverage stalls offering delectable meals. Be prepared, though, that you will need to spend quite a bit if you want to have a full spread.
Some of our favourites were Cheesy Chicken Sliders (S$14) by Breadfirst Everyday, Matcha Thick Toast (S$7.90) from 8 Degree, Wagyu Hamburger Steak (S$18) from D’s Hood on Wheels, and Sambal Stingray (S$16) from Sea High.

After devouring everything, we came to the conclusion that the quality of food at Togetherland is pretty high, but that the prices are high, too. To get the most value for money, go for the Cheesy Chicken Sliders, which will serve you 2 golden-brown sliders filled with chunky chicken slices and also generous servings of cheese sauce and fries.

As a connoisseur of you tiao, I also liked the Wagyu Hamburger Steak, which came with many pieces of egg dough fritters that were crispy on the outside but soft and stuffed with eggs on the inside. It genuinely surprised me how something as simple as dough fritters could turn out this yummy.
The hamburger steak itself came in a disappointingly small portion, but was well-seasoned. If you drop by this stall, I recommend just going for the Egg Dough Fritters (S$12 – S$14), which are sold separately.
Fun for families and pets

Togetherland is not just full of food, but full of fun! Head over to Vixen’s Christmas Carnival, where a range of carnival rides and classic games await. If you want to test your accuracy, try out Toss-a-Ball, Ring Toss or Arctic Archery. If your kids are up for some fun rides, they can get on the Flying Elephants, Mini Viking and more. Tickets to these activities are sold separately.
If you have a furry friend and are wondering if you can bring them along, you can! Togetherland is pet-friendly and even has a dedicated Blitzen’s Fur Friends Party zone for your fur-babies to run around and hang out. So, feel free to plan a day out at this Christmas festival with your kids, whether they are human or canine.
Pricey but solid Christmas market

If you’re here for the Christmas market, take a stroll through Prancer’s Star Bazaar, where you will find lines of retail booths showcasing festive ornaments, Christmas snacks, accessories and many other lifestyle gifts. A lot of these booths feature local independent brands and small businesses, with a focus on meaningful gifts and fine craftsmanship. I also noticed that many of these vendors offer pet-friendly treats, accessories and grooming essentials.
Whether you’re more interested in the food, the entertainment or the shopping, Togetherland, in my opinion, is one of Singapore’s best Christmas markets this year. There’s even a 50-minute original live musical, ‘The Brightest Christmas Star’, which is performed every night at 7.30pm on the Dancer’s Magical Stage.
All these form a solid Christmas festival experience for you — if you don’t mind burning a small hole in your wallet. Entry to Togetherland was initially ticketed but is now free, with the exception of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. For more information, visit Togetherland’s website or head directly to the event space outside The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
