Thinking of where to bring your family and friends for a meal or a catch-up? I’m back with my 2nd instalment of my new openings series where I introduce brand-new makan spots. In June, we visited a couple of food centre stalls, cafes, and even famous eateries from overseas. With that, I present to you the 5 new dining spots that opened in June 2026.
1. HERNG 好吃
Toa Payoh Lorong 8 Market & Hawker Centre already has more than 1 Hokkien mee stall in its premises, but I’m certainly not complaining with the opening of HERNG 好吃. Opened by new-gen owner, 28-year-old Jing Herng, the menu features 3 options ranging from S$5 to S$10, with a budget-friendly Kosong Mee alternative that’s priced at just S$3 for stir-fried noodles with egg, pork lard (upon request only), and the prawn broth.

The medium Hokkien mee here comes with 4 decent-sized prawns, pork belly pieces, sotong, pork lard, sambal, and calamansi doused in prawn stock that’s been simmered for at least 6 hours.

2. Mimmo Bakery

For those working in the CBD around the Shenton Way district, there’s a new bakery-cafe that’s excellent for a quick pastry fix or sit-down lunch. Mimmo Singapore at Asia Square Tower 1 is an European-style bakery with Hong Kong influences that’s helmed by Chef Domenico Giammarella, who ran a 1-year pop-up bakery at a restaurant corner in Hong Kong.

Prices start from just S$2++ for the Tigres, S$4++ for the Croissant and Egg Tart, and go up to S$7++ for a slice of their Mango Charlotte or Matcha Raspberry Cake.
They have a DIY pasta menu where customers can choose their handmade pasta option to pair with their desired ingredients and sauce, and even lighter selections like the Italian Club Sandwich (S$18++).
Address: 8 Marina View, Asia Square Tower 1, #01-05, Singapore 018960
3. Jing Studio

Located at 101 Penang Road, Jing Studio is a Chinese teahouse nestled within a 140-year-old shophouse, which happens to be the last surviving Teochew mansion in Singapore. This cosy spot offers a curated menu of brews, refined blends, and herbal infusions.

Sip on a heartwarming cup of hot Apothecary Gold (S$7) with aged white tea, sweet pear, mellow honey, and chrysanthemum. Alternatively, cool off with a Cold Bloom (S$8), an oolong tea blend with sweet melon, gardenia, and iced lily. If you’re feeling peckish, there’s Yam Mochi (S$3), or the Oolong Osmanthus Bloom (S$10) dessert.
Address: 101 Penang Road, House of Tan Yeok Nee, Singapore 238466
4. Omu’s Place

Omu Place at Hong Lim Market & Food Centre is a Japanese hawker stall serving a range of omu rice, udon, and side dishes. It’s opened by the same folks behind 2 Chefs Too Many, a 1-year old Japanese eatery tucked away at Changi Village.

Their omu rice options range from the cheapest Original Omu Rice (S$5.90) to the priciest Cheesy Wagyu Hamburg Omu Rice (S$12.90). If the weather is unbearably hot, order the Cold Truffle Goma Udon (S$5.90/S$7.90) to cool you down.
With any purchase of a main, sides like the Takoyaki (S$3.90) and Gyoza (S$3.90) are available at a discounted price of S$2.50.
Address: 531A Upper Cross Street, Hong Lim Market, #02-27, Singapore 051531
5. Hikiniku To Come

Hikiniku To Come originated in Japan in 2020 and has since expanded worldwide across China, South Korea, and Taiwan. Right now, we have our very own outlet in VivoCity. Translating to ‘Minced meat with rice’, this Japanese spot takes pride in its freshly grilled hamburger steaks and round-the-counter seating arrangement.
With diners seated around a central grill station, they can witness the chefs at work and have their steaks delivered right after they’re cooked.

At Hikiniku To Come, there’s only 1 main dish: The Hikiniku To Come Set (S$27.90++). It comes with up to 3 freshly-grilled hamburger steaks, 1 miso soup, 1 raw egg and rice with complimentary refills. You can savour it 3 ways — without any toppings to enjoy the authentic flavour, paired with grated radish and ponzu, and with raw egg.
Address: 1 HarbourFront Walk, VivoCity, #01-102/103, Singapore 098585
V1 Jia Chang Cai (家常菜): $3 for cai fan? You’ll get 3 dishes + rice at this hawker stall
