Singapore’s GU:UM is well-sought for its fire-grilled Korean cuisine, but trying it usually means making a trip across the Causeway. For the next 4 months, however, the modern Korean steakhouse is bringing the experience to ATAS at The RuMa Hotel and Residences in KL until 30 Nov 2026.

After a successful one-night collaboration last year, GU:UM is back for its longest residency in KL yet. If you’re searching for a fresh date night spot or somewhere to celebrate a special occasion, this is one reservation worth keeping on your radar.

Founded by MICHELIN-starred Chef Louis Han, GU:UM puts a contemporary spin on Korean cuisine, with charcoal grilling at the heart of its menu. While Chef Louis won’t be in Kuala Lumpur, the kitchen is led by Chef Sanggil Byeon alongside chefs from GU:UM and its sister restaurant, NAE:UM.

Start with signature dishes like Yukhwae Jeon (RM78), pairing Korean beef tartare with a crispy potato pancake, the refreshing Mulhwae sashimi in chilled broth (RM80), or KFC (Korean Fried Cauliflower, RM50), coated in sweet-spicy yangnyeom sauce with rice cakes and cashew flakes.
Other highlights include Seafood Pajeon, Gochujang Soft Shell Crab, and Torched Jackfruit Burrata.

The charcoal-grilled mains are the biggest draw, featuring premium cuts such as richly marbled Hanwoo Lower Loin MBS6-7 (RM768), melt-in-your-mouth Woodae Galbi Short Rib (RM360), and Surf & Turf Platter (RM568), ideal for sharing between 2 or 3 diners.

Round off the meal with comforting Korean favourites like Uncle Lulu’s Fried Rice with kimchi and grilled squid, GU:UM’s Cold Japchae, Sujebi Mac ‘n Cheese, and Doenjang Jjigae, before ending on a sweet note with Hotteok, Mandarin Bingsu or Koguma Mousse.
GU:UM’s residency at ATAS KL runs daily from 1 Aug to 30 Nov 2026, with dinner service from 6pm onwards. Make your reservations here!
