Who said Singapore’s night scene is dying? There are plenty of local nightclubs from iconic hotspots to up-and-coming newer spaces where you can dance the night away. Whether you want a lively environment or a chill one, I’ve got the best options on this list. 

If you’re wondering where to go on the weekends (or weekdays, no judgement), here are the best nightclubs in Singapore.

How I chose the best nightclubs

These are the 3 main criteria I used to decide which nightclubs to recommend:

• Music: I picked out nightclubs which play a variety of music to vibe to.
• Environment: I picked nightclubs with unique, welcoming and energetic atmospheres.
• Drinks and food: I picked nightclubs which serve up good food and, of course, drinks.

This isn’t a ranked best-to-worst soft nightclubs list, but a collection of the best nightclubs in my opinion, in no particular order. Get glammed up and head out to these best nightclubs in Singapore! 

1. Marquee Singapore 

Marquee Singapore spans 3 floors with extremely high ceilings. The club also has a 9-metre-high, 25-metre-wide, 8K resolution screen along with 3 different sound systems: L’Acoustics, Funktion One and D&B Audiotechnik. I particularly like their iconic, full-sized, 8-armed ‘Big Q’ Ferris wheel. It’s like an amusement park ride with stunning views of the nightclub and its design. There is also a ‘Sunny Slide Up’ slide, which spirals 7 metres down all 3 storeys of the club. Marquee Singapore creates an immersive experience beyond a simple night out.

Marquee Singapore also hosts ‘FTW!’ twice a month on Wed for a midweek fun night out. FTW! features resident DJs and an open-format soundtrack of Top 40 hits, along with iconic pop songs and EDM mash-ups. I like the mix-up of genres as it creates a dynamic mood that keeps the night going.

2. Zouk

Zouk was established in 1991, making it a long-standing institution in the Singapore nightlife scene. It began in a warehouse and was the first club to introduce House music in Singapore, making waves in the industry as many followed suit. One thing I like about Zouk is its strong emphasis on great music, hosting many internationally renowned DJs, creating a thrilling atmosphere. 

I also like the space itself, with its neo-industrial theme, along with a brightly lit, sculptural tunnel. Zouk also has a custom Gary Stewart analogue sound system, along with cutting-edge lighting for even more vibes. The dance floor is also multi-level, which I appreciate as it helps spreads out the crowd.

3. Lulu’s Lounge 

Lulu’s Lounge is a 1930s-inspired club located in Chinatown, near Terra Southbridge Hotel. It is inspired by 1930s Shanghai not just in its interior but also in its menu that features elevated dim sum and cocktails with Chinese ingredients. I like that there is a rotation of live music, cabaret, burlesque and DJ sets every night, making the experience theatrical and dynamic. 

The interior is extremely pleasing with its old Shanghai aesthetic and velvet-lined booths, making the atmosphere intimate and immersive. It feels less like a night out and more like an intimate experience with performances, music and food.  

I recommend the Scarlett Letter cocktail (S$23), which has Wheatley Vodka, dragon fruit, beetroot, hawthorn, citrus and egg white. It’s red, just like the interior of Lulu’s Lounge. For food, I like their Sichuan Spiced French Fries (S$12), golden fries tossed with mala spice, sesame and Sichuan pepper salt for a spicy treat.

4. Behind The Green Door

Located in Singapore on Duxton Road, Behind The Green Door hails from Bali. The venue is quite literally behind a green front door, hence the name. Once I stepped in, the lush greenery hanging from the ceiling over my head made it feel like a hidden verdant sanctuary instead of a nightclub. I particularly like this aspect of the club as the calming greenery juxtaposes bright lights and vibrant music for a unique environment. It also feels like an adventure when you go through the door and see the tropical-inspired interior and decor.

Behind The Green Door plays mainly House and Techno music, creating an interesting atmosphere.

5. NOVA

NOVA is the highest rooftop bar in Singapore. Located on the 63rd floor, it offers unobstructed 360-degree views of our city skyline, which makes NOVA one of the best party locations because… how often would I be standing at such a tall height?

I also like that it’s a multisensory experience at NOVA, with the wind in my hair, music thumping through my veins, and good food and drinks for a fun night out. It also feels exhilarating to be on the 63rd floor while enjoying the night with different genres of music playing, from R&B to afrobeat to hip-hop.

6. Cherry Discotheque

Cherry Discotheque is located at 133 Cecil Street. It is an intimate underground nightclub with an 80s aesthetic from the chequered floors to bright neon lights, which feature a big cherry, reinforcing the club’s identity. I like their distinct retro vibe, as it makes for great pictures and videos while on my night out. It also feels like I’ve been transported back in time, temporarily giving me an escape from my everyday life, great for avoidants!

Despite Cherry Discotheque having a retro aesthetic, they played many modern pop songs along with throwback songs when I partied there. This makes the atmosphere really upbeat and lively, as the variety of music kept the night from feeling repetitive and dull.

7. YANG Club Singapore

YANG Club is located in The Riverhouse, which is a heritage mansion with eye-catching Chinese architecture. Fun fact: The Riverhouse was built in the 1870s along Clarke Quay and used to be a ‘secret society’ house led by headmen of the notorious Ghee Hok Society. I like that The Riverhouse has such a rich history, which shows in the decor of the mansion, making it a treat for the eyes. 

I like that YANG Club highlights Asia, with their striking Asian edge to our nightlife, along with advanced sound systems. It also has high-voltage lights for a vibrant night out. What’s YANG without its YIN? There is also a YIN Bar in the courtyard of the mansion, with live music by the iconic river of Clarke Quay, along with food and drinks. YIN Bar has a more relaxed atmosphere compared to YANG Club.

8. Tuff Club

Tuff Club started as a temporary pop-up in 2018. Today, it is located on Level 19 of a building which mainly houses offices. I like that Tuff Club has a Funktion-One set, which definitely boosts the musical experience. The custom lighting system, which features their iconic purple and orange dancefloors, really adds to the lively mood. Tuff Club plays a wide variety of music, including House, Jungle, UK garage, Techno and more, making the atmosphere exciting and unpredictable (in a good way).

Tuff Club also has a rooftop where you can get fresh air and, best of all, it showcases the skyline of the Central Business District (CBD). The rooftop is also connected to a long passageway that leads to the dance floor, which feels like something out of a fever dream, which makes for a fun experience to wander around in.

9. RASA Space

RASA Space is located in Tower 1 of Republic Plaza and is a 6,000-square-foot venue. It’s more than a traditional nightclub as it doubles up as a community space for music, arts and culture. RASA Space has 2 different spaces: Hall and Floor. The Hall is where I usually go for a chiller night out, as it’s a restaurant lounge, so I usually relax there with a drink or snack with friends. Then, if we’re all feeling up for it, we head over to the Floor. 

The Floor resembles more of a ‘typical’ nightclub area, with a great sound system playing House and electronic music. It also has cosy sofas and lounges, which I appreciate for when I just need to sit down and relax.

For small bites, I recommend their Tom Yum Tossed Squid Bites (S$12), which are tender squid pieces tossed with aromatic tom yum spices. For drinks, I enjoy the Cantaloop Rush (S$22), which consists of Bombay Sapphire, lemon juice and fresh basil leaf, topped with a refreshing rock melon sorbet.

10. Dashi Go-Go

Dashi Go-Go is located on level 39 of CapitaGreen at Raffles Place. I like that it is conveniently located in the Central Business District (CBD) as I can take a look at Singapore’s skyline as I’m heading to the venue and when I’m heading back home. Dashi Go-Go is inspired by Japanese nightlife and Neo-Tokyo aesthetics. 

Stepping into Dashi Go-Go feels as though I’ve been transported to a futuristic world, with all the vibrant neon lights and Neo-Tokyo aesthetic furniture. I like that the DJs are versatile, switching up the music each day of the week. They play high-energy hip hop, open format sets amongst many other genres. I particularly like the open format sets, which feature multi-genre mixing, allowing for tempo shifts, which keeps the dance floor energised.

If you’re like me and get peckish when partying, Dashi Go-Go offers a range of small bites. I recommend the Luncheon Meat Fries (S$18) for a savoury treat. For drinks, I like their Sakura Sky Fizz (S$25), which consists of Tito’s Vodka, Mancino Sakura, St Germain, lime, Brass Lion Butterfly Pea and fizz.

How to choose a nightclub in Singapore

Choose Marquee Singapore for large-scale clubbing and varied open-format sets, or Zouk for established House music and international DJs. Lulu’s Lounge suits an intimate night with performances, food and cocktails, while Behind The Green Door works for House and Techno in a tropical setting.
