In recent months, there has been no shortage in the number of bagel stores opening in Singapore. Honestly, what’s there not to love? With their delicious, generous fillings, bagels are hearty and satisfying, making for a perfect meal. Bag Me Up Bagel House is one of the spots for you to grab a thicc and tasty bite when your cravings hit.

This bagelry, which opened in late 2022 in Everton Park, offers 9 different flavours, including sweet and savoury options. Though it mainly serves as a takeaway joint, those who prefer to dine in can still do so as there are benches and small tables available both inside and right outside the space.

What I tried at Bag Me Up Bagel House

I started my meal with Bag Me Up Bagel’s signature bagel, aptly named the Bag Me Up Signature (S$16.50). This loaded bagel came filled with a layer of unagi, katsuobushi egg salad, lettuce and tomatoes. I loved the generosity of the fillings, and the bagel was visually stunning too, with multiple different hues.

The bagel itself was delightfully chewy and slightly dense, making it all the more satisfying. The unagi had a fragrant smoked aroma and didn’t have an overly fishy taste, which I liked. My personal favourite element was the katsuobushi egg salad. It was creamy and savoury with a smooth yet chunky texture. The vegetables were the perfect finish, balancing out the strong flavours of the egg salad and unagi with their freshness.

We Will Wagyu (S$16.50) was another one of Bag Me Up Bagel House’s popular flavours, containing a 100% Wagyu beef patty, torched cheese, onion, pickles and homemade sauce. I was surprised at the deep red colour of the Wagyu beef patty— it even bled a little!

The Wagyu beef patty had a tender and crumbly texture while the homemade sauce was tangy and creamy. All the elements of this bagel reminded me of a beef burger. I liked how the We Will Wagyu bagel was not too salty, though it wasn’t as exciting as the Bag Me Up Signature.

bag me up bagel house - can trust chic?

Can Trust Chic? (S$14.50) was without a doubt my favourite of all the bagels I tried at Bag Me Up Bagel. Pulling apart the bagel revealed grilled teriyaki chicken thigh, sauteed mushrooms, truffle schmear and stretchy mozzarella cheese. What a feast for the eyes!

The chicken thigh was tender and well-marinated while the sauteed mushrooms were soft and coated liberally in the truffle schmear. The mozzarella cheese made the whole bagel even more indulgent, and I loved every bite. The strength of the various elements did make me feel a little jelak, so I’d recommend splitting it with a friend.

For those who love the classic combination of smoked salmon and cream cheese, this one is for you. Sale-Man (S$16.50) comes packed with smoked salmon, whipped cream cheese with dill, capers and red onions.

The amount of smoked salmon filling was one of the most notable things about this bagel, and I loved the rich, herby flavours of the cream cheese. The smoked salmon was fresh and chewy too.

What better way to end off a meal than with a refreshing drink? I fell in love with Bag Me Up Bagel’s White Peach Fresh Milk Tea (S$4.50), which was incredibly fragrant and aromatic with a fruity and notable white peach taste.

Yuen Yueng (S$6.50) was a drink made with both coffee and tea. I couldn’t really taste the tea element of this drink as the strong, bitter flavours of the coffee overpowered everything else.

Finally, the Iced Lemon Tea (S$4.50) was a refreshing and citrusy drink, though it was a more ordinary option compared to the other tea options available.

Final thoughts

bag me up bagel house - bagels

Bag Me Up Bagel House proves itself to be a worthy addition to the local bagel scene. I especially enjoyed the Can Trust Chic? bagel, and the Bag Me Up Signature is definitely a must-try if you are a fan of unagi.

Though these bagels are on the pricier end, the quality of the ingredients and the generosity of the fillings is certainly commendable. I would drop by again in the future for a bagel fix when I am in the Everton Park area.
