If there’s anything positive about Singapore’s humid and tropical climate, it’s how cold desserts are always a welcome sight, most notably ice cream. This creamy cold treat has been soothing our ancestor’s throats as early as the second century B.C, albeit probably without sprinkles or whipped cream.
These sweet treats are so accessible now that you’re bound to come across an ice cream parlour of sorts even in neighbourhoods. The question arises: which is the best ice cream spot in Singapore? Well, I’m glad you asked because here are the 10 best ice cream spots in Singapore that even your dentist would love!
1. Tom’s Palette
Starting off the list is Tom’s Palette which has been serving really unique flavours since 2005. In the past 18 years, they have crafted over 180 ice cream flavours which include Nasi Lemak, Tau Sar Piah, Soya Bean Dough Fritters and even the cough syrup Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa.
Unlike most ice cream parlours which serve ice creams in cups, cones and waffles, Tom’s Palette takes it up a notch by letting you enjoy your scoop in the form of Affogatos (S$7.80), Teaffogato (S$7.80) and even as Parfaits (S$7.80). If you still want to opt for cones, you can do so with their Single Scoop at S$5.80 or Double Scoops at S$8.90.

2. Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream and Coffee
Opened back in 2011 in Singapore’s oldest heartland estate, Toa Payoh, Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream & Coffee aims to serve good and honest ice creams. They pride themselves in serving only handcrafted ice creams that are made in small batches every day. The ingredients used to make their soft serve are also carefully sourced from different parts of the world.
A Single scoop of handcrafted ice cream goes for S$4.30 whilst a Double is at S$7.60. Honestly, you are probably better off with the double scoop as you have an array of exciting flavours to choose from such as Sea Salt Gula Melaka, Bluepea Vanilla and Rum Raisin. There’s even Doggie Ice Cream (S$5.90) that’s canine-friendly!

3. Heartbreak Melts
You’ve probably heard of Heartbreak Melts from this viral TikTok as well as their quirky theme of heartbreaks and breakups. Let me assure you that their marketing tactics are just a front for one of the best places to get vegan ice cream on the island, despite the owners not being vegans themselves.
The theme of the cafe is also carried through their ice cream flavours such as HBM Chocolate Me Baby, I Love U Soy Matcha and 50 Shades of Earl Grey. You can choose to enjoy them in Scoops (S$4), Scoop + Cone (S$5) or in Takeaway Pint (S$16). Heartbreak Melts also has rotational and seasonal flavours such as Corny Cornflakes, Let that Mango and Choco Hazelnut. Have I mentioned it operates till the wee hours of the morning?

4. Apiary
Apiary ticks all of the boxes of a good ice cream spot. It’s good ol’ handmade ice cream with quality, natural and fresh ingredients like all ice cream should have. Even their dairy products are pasteurised on-site in their kitchen. With no artificial flavours or colours added to the process, this produces only smooth and creamy ice cream.
As flavours go, Apiary has classic options such as Vanilla Bean, Cookies & Cream and Classic Earl Grey. It also has more unique choices like Blue Milk (Milk, Blue Pea Flower, Salt), Sicilian Pistachio and Baileys & Brownies. Enjoy a scoop, two or three at S$4.20/S$8/S$11 with an additional S$0.50 for premium flavours.

5. Udders Ice Cream
With 5 outlets on the island, being available at over 400 retail points and exported to countries like Malaysia, the Philippines and the Netherlands, Udders Ice Cream must be doing something right. The local brand started way back in 2007 with the mission to create Asian and alcoholic flavours.
Each scoop is S$5 whilst Liqueur Scoop costs S$6.10. The much-touted Asian flavours include Singapore Chendol, Mao Shan Wang and Muah Chee. If you’re not into that, fret not as they also offer signature ice cream flavours such as Strawberry Fields, Salted Speculoos and Salted Caramel.

6. The Daily Scoop
Older folks might recognise The Daily Scoop as their date spot of yesteryear as this ice cream parlour first opened in 2004, which is almost 20 years ago (I feel old too). Today, with 4 outlets, it continues serving honest-to-goodness ice cream that has Asian-inspired, alcoholic and dairy-free options.
A few of the popular flavours include Salted Mr Brown, Utterly Avocado, Pandan Ondeh and Pandan Blue Pea Mochi. You can opt for the Single Scoop (S$4) or Double Scoop (S$7.50). There’s even the Junior Scoop (S$2.90) for little kiddos but something tells me this option is an unnecessary one.

7. Ovverun.Sg
Initially, Ovverun.SG started out serving sandwiches and coffee in late 2015. However, they only went viral after swapping sandwiches for soft-serve. Helping the hype was its first soft-serve flavour, Chendol, which brought customers back to the days of Mr. Softee’s iteration of it at 7-Eleven.
Ovverun.SG doesn’t stick to a single flavour long, in fact, within a week they would replace the current ice cream flavour with a new one. Some of its past flavours have included Caramel Apple Pie (S$9), Smores Chocolate (S$9), Strawberry Cheesecake (S$9) and Rose Pistachio Kulfi (S$9). The only staple flavours are the Durian Chendol (S$9) and Overrun Chendol (S$7).

8. Holy Cow Creamery
Located at Yishun (cue Yishun joke from 2017 here), Holy Cow Creamery is probably one of the most affordable handcrafted ice cream spots on the list. It might be located amongst old-fashioned-looking barbers and hardware stores, but the quality of ice cream is clear.
Admittedly, the flavour options are pretty similar to what you’d get from any ice cream parlour, such as Ondeh Ondeh, Thai Milk Tea, Choc Chip Mint and French Vanilla.
When I visited the place, I had a Single Scoop (S$3.50) of Classic Rainbow Rush which is a milky gelato with rainbow sprinkles and marshmallows. It was really creamy and had a nice crunch from the sprinkles whilst somehow not being overly sweet. My only regret was not going for the Double Scoop (S$6.50).

9. Birds of Paradise
For something a little more sophisticated, Birds of Paradise promises to create gelato of the finest quality that’s inspired by the botanical flavours of nature. In other words, ice cream with more natural flavours. They achieve that by incorporating botanical ingredients such as fruits, flowers, pods, herbs and spices into their creation.
Some of those botanical flavours include Masala Spice, White Chrysanthemum, Lychee Raspberry, Sea-Salt Hojicha and Strawberry Basil. You can have your exquisite ice cream in a Cup (S$5.50/S$9) or Cone (S$6.80/S$10.30). There are also Thyme Cones (S$8) for the complete botanical experience though they came in a set of 4.

10. Kind Kones
Started in 2017, Kind Kones serves an all-natural vegan ice cream that’s free from dairy, egg, and refined sugar, and is mostly gluten-free. This stemmed from the owners wanting to provide a healthy dessert alternative for their young daughter. The brand can also be found in Malaysia.
Despite being seemingly limited with its base ingredients, Kind Kones has a surprisingly varied amount of flavours such as Watermelon Strawberry Mint, Keto Avocado Coconut, Coffee Chocolate Fudge Swirl and Banana, Coconut & Fig Swirl. Standard flavours go for S$5.90/S$7.90 whilst Premium flavours are at S$7.90/S$9.90. You also have 2 different options for their homemade cones like Wholemeal (S$1) and Flourless Gluten Free (S$1.50).
