Breadtalk Wheelock 9

After the announcement of Butter Bean’s opening at Funan Mall, the Breadtalk Group is back with more treats to tantalise the tastebuds of all carb lovers. Inspired by modern art galleries, BreadTalk has launched a new-gen store at Wheelock Place with soy milk on tap—the very first in Singapore!

The clean and minimalistic looking outlet set the stage for over 60 new creations which will be released at all their outlets islandwide. This new store concept will also be rolled out progressively to all 16 regional markets Breadtalk has expanded into.

Made from non-genetically modified soybeans from Canada, the soy on tap is brewed inhouse and contains no added preservatives, additives and artificial colouring. With 10 yummy flavours and various toppings to choose from, soy milk lovers will be spoilt for choice with the endless combinations that can be created!

My favourite is, hands down, Soy Yammy (S$2.70), an exceptional combination of textures and flavours featuring purple sweet potato and yam. The beverage is topped with a light and airy Soy Crown (soy milk whipped cream) and a heap full of BreadTalk’s signature pork floss.

Mix everything in and you will get a nutty, sweet-savoury combination that is the perfect guilt-free indulgence under Singapore’s sweltering weather.

Breadtalk’s new dessert bread series features two new designer bakes—Rosie (S$1.80 each, S$5 for three) and the Truffle Tower (S$2.50). Inspired by the banding drink, Rosie is a soft and fluffy bun consisting of a creamy rose custard and cream filling enveloped in an aromatic dough scattered with rose petals.

If you are a fan of all things truffle, the Truffle Tower is a must-try. Each cone-shaped chocolate-layered croissant is generously filled with truffle mousse. Imagine the caramelised layers shatter as you bite into the cold, umami-packed and deeply fragrant truffle mousse—you get what I mean. Every bite was heavenly for this one.

Also taking their spots in the chiller are the pocket-sized sandwiches. Remarkably similar to Japanese sandos, the Strawberry Sand (S$2.60) takes a twist on a classic strawberry jam sandwich with the addition of dark chocolate crisp for that satisfying crunch.

Truffle Crepe Sand (S$3.30) is the savoury counterpart that is an ensemble of textures. Truffle mousse is sandwiched between folds of 0.1mm thin egg crepe, resulting in a rich burst of flavours that I definitely won’t mind any time of the day.

No celebration will be complete without a cake. Catering to smaller group gatherings, Breadtalk also sized down their cakes to meet the current demands. Coming back trendier and classier, the Pretty Pink (S$25.80) and Granite (S$25.80) are simple in design, allowing you to unlock your creativity by designing a cake that is truly one-of-a-kind with their DIY kits. Chef designer and bigger-sized cakes are also available upon request online

Having been running for 20 years and counting, Breadtalk has played a significant role in many of our lives. With this brand new phase and the rolling out of the new-gen concept in place, I just can’t wait to taste all their mouth-watering creations coming our way!
