For those staying around Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 whose HDB block number starts with ‘5’, come check out the newly-opened Buey Tahan Cafeteria.

This petite eatery aims to offer wallet-friendly local cuisine encompassing a selection of noodle and rice dishes typically found on a zi char menu. If you’re thinking of having a large get-together meal with your family, there is also an assortment of stir-fried meat, seafood and vegetable options.

Buey Tahan Cafeteria is established by the same team responsible for ‘Buey Tahan See-Food’, which owns numerous kopitiam stalls around Singapore as well as a nostalgic HDB-themed restaurant at Downtown East.

One of the specialties on the menu is the Signature Curry Mee series which features thick Malaysian-style curry noodles. The gravy is aromatic and perfectly spiced— a must-try!

Choose from the Original (S$5.50) that comes with shredded chicken or take your pick from the other choices like Ebi Fry (S$7), Chicken Cutlet (S$7) and Fish Cutlet (S$7).

For die-hard fans of bee hoon, the menu has an impressive selection of dry and soup versions for you to get excited over; 17 options, to be exact. Be adventurous and go for the Black Pepper Beehoon (S$6), Tomyum Beehoon Soup (S$7) or the White Pepper Lala Beehoon (S$7).

If you’re missing the flavours of your grandma’s cooking, you can also try the Hometown Bee Hoon series such as the Original (S$5) or the Chicken Cutlet (S$6.50).
