Looking for a whiff of nostalgia? Good news! Chin Mee Chin Confectionery will be opening a second outlet at NEX in Q3 2026!

The eatery was established in 1925 at East Coast Road, making it more than a century old! Tucking into their old-school food allows you to reminisce about the old times.

Here, you can find the classic Singaporean breakfast: a Kaya Toast set (S$6.20) with 2 soft-boiled eggs and a hot drink. If you’re looking for a heavier meal, they also offer other local favourites, such as the Curry Chicken Rice (S$9.80).
This may sound similar to typical coffeehouses like Ya Kun Kaya Toast and Toast Box, but Chin Mee Chin also offers other items that showcase its unique history!

This includes their Cream Horn (S$2.80) and Sugee Cake (S$2.90). These traditional Eurasian confectioneries were introduced to Chin Mee Chin’s menu in the 1970s to cater to Joo Chiat’s growing Eurasian community. Till this day, these items remain fan favourites.
You may also feel a wave of nostalgia upon observing Chin Mee Chin’s decor. With its green mosaic floor tiling and marble top tables, there’s no doubt that it’s a traditional eatery.
While Chin Mee Chin Confectionery’s legacy has stood the test of time, we should not take this for granted, since the brand almost disappeared 8 years ago. The bakery initially shuttered in 2018 due to a lack of manpower, and customers were devastated by the loss of this old-school legacy. Fortunately, it was revived in 2021 by F&B company Ebb & Flow Group, allowing fans to return for a taste of tradition at its iconic East Coast home.
I look forward to the bakery’s opening at NEX; hopefully, non-Easties like me will find it easier to enjoy a taste of their traditional food!
