I’ve always wanted to try golf. Unfortunately, the prospect of trudging all over a massive golf course chasing errant golf balls just doesn’t take my fancy. And that makes me the ideal candidate for virtual golf! Enter Five Iron Golf’s Let’s Par-tee Indoor Golf.
Produced in collaboration with experience brand Native, Let’s Par-tee Indoor Golf whisks you off to over 120 of the world’s most famous and exotic golf courses. You can test your mettle against the masters or challenge your friends in simple golf-based game activities such as Capture the Flag and Bull’s Eye.
This immersive experience is helped along by a 4K HD cinema-quality projector. Standing within the huge bay in front of the screen that covered my entire field of vision, it was so easy to imagine myself standing on a faraway course in the open air.
Left-handed? No problems, they can accommodate that as well. Built into the sophisticated VR system are options for different weather conditions, too, allowing you to play in the sun or fight strong winds. I just went the simple route which was challenging enough for a first-timer! But so fun, too!
It can all seem too much if you have never golfed before. I took full advantage of Five Iron Golf’s dedicated pro and semi-pro coaches. They are there to assess your strokes using the system’s tracking data and provide incisive pointers to up your game. I’m sure even recreational golfers can benefit from that expertise and insight.
The physicality did work up my appetite. Fortunately, included in Let’s Par-tee Indoor Golf (S$125 per person) 3–hour package is light food and drink— delectable food platter featuring menu highlights, and 2 house drinks per person.
Both my son and I loved the Chicken Quesadillas (S$20), as well as the Pulled Pork (S$22), Buttermilk Chicken Sliders (S$22) and Nachos (S$16) that were served to us during our experience.
I have to admit I haven’t been the most physical person since I left school, but I found this to be such a wonderful change to my routine. Imagine my shock when I saw how much I saw my game improved after I factored in the digital analysis. For professionals, that information would be gold.
My son, on the other hand, is a perpetually-active teen and the finesse side of the game appealed to him. Ordinarily quiet, he was coaxed out of shell by the engaging golf pros and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We are already planning a head-to-head matchup on our return to the digital green!
Based on just my outing, I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying the VR golfing experience. The other people at Five Iron Golf seemed to be having just as great a time as we did. Especially paired with the delicious sliders, it is impossible not to recommend this package!
