No matter the occasion, nothing beats indulging in a huge feast of Grandma’s food. Located in a no-frills hawker stall in Bedok, Grandma’s Pig Trotter Rice recently opened for business on 27 Jun 2023.
I’m not sure what magic ingredients these grandparents often use, but they seem to have nailed the perfect braise for their braised pork dishes!

Pork trotter contains large amounts of collagen. Beauty gurus would know to increase their collagen intake to boost radiant and supple skin. Or at least that is what my own grandma has taught me.
It has also been advised that collagen can relieve joint pain and help with muscle growth. As far as these theories go, I merely dig into these braised pork trotters because they taste super delicious!

Prices are kept super affordable here with the Classic Pig Trotter Rice going for S$5.90 only. The bowl features a hefty amount of braised pork alongside braised peanuts, fishcake slices, preserved and fresh leafy vegetables, and half an egg.
Based on the images shared online, the cut of meat used for the braise seems to have both fatty and lean parts, perfect!

Those who love spare parts should go for the Deluxe Pig Trotter Rice (S$7.90). The item sees additional pieces of braised intestine on top of the ingredients listed in the Classic bowl. If you’re just there to spam the braised items, then the Braised Platter B (S$13.90) should satisfy you.

Without a carbohydrate option included, one can thoroughly enjoy the braised taste of the ingredients. There is one main difference to this platter — 2 types of meat are served, namely pork leg and golden pork coin.
Personally, I am unsure what the differences are between the 2 variations. Although, I guess that makes it a good reason why I should head down to try Grandma’s Pig Trotter Rice!
