Most new Western food stalls these days take a more modern fusion-based approach to their dishes. KK Western Food, which opened on 1 Dec, has decided to take a more old-school approach to keep things traditional.
Opening his stall at Golden Mile Food Centre, owner Jax has ventured into the hawker industry with the goal of preserving comforting Western food. His father had been a hawker in Punggol selling Western food himself. That was all the way back in the early 2000s till the 2010s.
Jax has grown up with the traditional style of dishes that he’s serving up at KK Western Food. He understands that success in this industry is no easy feat. Despite the reluctance of many to enter F&B and the multitudes of old-school hawkers that close without successors, he still decided to open his stall.
It’s only been 2 weeks since KK Western Food opened but the few reviews it has garnered almost all seem to carry the same sentiments. First, that the taste is nostalgic. Ringing true to Jax’s tastes, the Western delights are generally considered good old-fashioned dishes.

The second is that they have generous portions whilst remaining affordable. For example, the Pork Chop (S$7.50) comes with 2 sizeable chops drowned in gravy, coleslaw, baked beans and some fries. You get the same sides with the Chicken Chop (S$7.50) as well.
A diner who didn’t want baked beans said that he was given more fries instead. This brings me to my next point that the people working at KK Western Food are friendly.
Jax himself recommends you drop by for his Fried Wings w Rice (S$4.50) or Spring Chicken (S$12). As most stalls sell their fried spring chicken at up to S$16, this dish is certainly more wallet-friendly than many of its competitors.
