When llaollao first made its comeback, it sent many bubbling about the sorely-missed pistachio sauce that, together with milky frozen yoghurt, makes for one of the most iconic duos Singapore has ever seen. This time, not only are they treating us to the return of the famous pistachio sauce, they’ve also launched the llaoBa (S$5.90)—which you can already guess, is llaollao yogurt paired with boba.

On its own, llaollao’s frozen yoghurt is close to unparalleled. The creamy, milky blend from my days in Junior College remains unmatched till this day. The introduction of the llaoBa sees four flavours launched—Mango, Strawberry, Grape, and Lychee.

Reminding me of the grape candies I used to savour in my childhood, the grape flavour presents a healthy blend of nostalgia and tastiness. Meanwhile, the crowd favourite mango easily already steals hearts and palates as it goes. Inoffensive and lightly fruity, it’s hard to go wrong with the classic mango.

The strawberry pales slightly in comparison, but who’s to blame it considering the large shoes to fill. I really liked the lychee which presented undertones of floral notes, in an otherwise subtle flavour altogether.

The boba toppings can be found only in the llaoBa, and are not available as toppings for regular yoghurt servings.

In line with the fruit-based flavours, there’s also the llaoFloat (S$6.90) which exists in the grape, strawberry, and mango flavours only.

In addition to the chewy, refreshing pearls, the llaoFloat also boasts a blended fruit base, using only the freshest ingredients straight from Japan. Perfect respite on even the hottest of days, the llaoFloat makes for a tempting proposition to quell the heat and quench your thirst.

Both the llaoBa and llaoFloat are available across all outlets island-wide, and to commemorate the launch of the llaoBao, llaollao is offering customers 2 llaoBas for S$9.90 from now until 10 February 2021.
