Mezza9 is one of the sleekest and trendiest hotel buffets I’ve been to, and should be the vouge of classy buffets. Designed by internationally acclaimed Japanese designer Super Potato (I can’t stop giggling at the name), the interior utilizes a lot of glossy, polished wood in various fixtures.
A homey yet corporate vibe, family and clients alike can enjoy the amazing Sunday Champagne brunch at Mezza9 appropriately. Do note this brunch is only available on Sundays, while the rest of the week sees an a la carte menu.
The Mezza9 concept is to have 9 different dining experiences in one restaurant and is largely an adult-focused, boozey event; each of the areas are paired with alcohol that is provided at the side.
Let’s go through some of the 9 areas that make up this unique Sunday brunch.
The grill: western grill and rotisserie
I like how the kitchen within Mezza9 is an open concept, and you can see chefs making the buffet spread live before your eyes.
Roast chicken, mini sliders, hot dogs; all part of the western grill section.
Oh yes, roast meat. Lots of roast meat. Enjoy delights like slow-roasted prime beef with Yorkshire pudding or a leg of lamb with mint sauce.
Do check out the Cape Grim bone-in ribeye which is worth a trip on its own.
Seafood: crustacean bar with sustainable seafood
Ahmagerd Boston Lobsters. Compared to crabs, lobsters are so much easier to peel and have way more meat. However, the sweetness of fresh crabs (which are also served at Mezza9) are undeniably worth the effort.
There’s also fresh cold clams, crabs, Tasmanian black mussels, Wild King Prawns, Coffin Bay/Fine de claire oysters to add to the seafood gastronomy.
The seafood is also sourced from sustainable sources in a bid to be as environmentally conscious as possible.
As mentioned, you’ll find alcohol pairings at each area, and white wine can be found by the seafood, while red wine is found by the roast meats. Otherwise you can just order from the servers too.
The steam basket: authentic Chinese cuisine
Dim sum baskets aplenty. You have siew mais, black bean pork ribs, har gaos and the like. They didn’t have my favorite liu sha bao (custard buns) that day though.
A roast section featuring the classic roasted duck, pork belly, roasted chicken and char siew for visiting hotel guests who want a taste of Asia without stepping out of the hotel at all.
Other classic Chinese dishes are also available, like this drunken prawn dish.
Thai Street Grills
Live grilling of meats over a charcoal grill, there are various Asian styles of meat such as the Thai Moo Ping.
Sushi: sushi and sashimi bar
Pretty good sashimi and sushi spread, featuring yellowtail and swordfish as the rarer premium cuts I like. There are also mini chirashi bowls.
I particularly enjoyed the Salmon belly, which is kind of a secret order at sashimi buffet counters. Just tell the chef and he’ll hook you up.
So by the Japanese section, you’ll find sake as well to pair with your food.
The deli: charcuterie and european deli
Premium cold cuts and hams like Spanish Jamon Serrano are also available for the more ang moh eaters who need their meats.
Europeans love their cheese, and Mezza9 provides. Brie, Cheddar, Camembert, the main heroes of cheese are all in attendance.
The patisserie: dessert
Beautiful cakes and pastry await your secondary dessert stomach.
The bar: premium wines, champagne, and cocktails
There’s also a connected bar area if you want to have a drink in peace.
Free-flowing Perrier Jouët Grand Brut champagne. Fresh and lively, with a very delicate subtle bouquet. This is what makes a champagne brunch so worth it.
You not only get free flow champagne, but you can also order red/white wines, beer, sakes and premium gins!
We’re not talking about Gordon’s Gin or some cheap gin from 7-11; Mezza9 actually rotates a premium selection of gins in addition to the already wide alcohol range.
Definitely one of the best Champagne brunch buffet experiences I’ve had. Luxurious and comforting at the same time, Mezza9’s Sunday brunch buffet is one where you’ll want to splurge on especially for adults who love to drink. There are probably a couple of families around, but way less than usual.
Sunday brunch runs from 12pm – 3pm.
Expected Damage: S$118++ per adult, inclusive of fruits juices, soft drinks, coffee/tea (non-alcoholic)
*For an additional S$40++ per person, adults can enjoy free-flowing Perrier- Jouët Grand Brut Champagne, certified sustainable red and white wines, selection of martinis, 9 hand-crafted gin and tonics, and Tiger beer.
