Many eateries come and go. While we cherish those that stand the test of time, let’s also make the most of our final chances to savour those that are closing. If you’re fond of egg fried rice, don’t miss your last chance to support Number One Hundred at Chinatown Complex Food Centre, as they will be closing down at the end of July 2024.

The stall, named for being the 100th hawker stall in the food centre, is known for its signature egg fried rice topped with various types of meat. According to a Facebook post by a member of Can Eat! SG, the owner revealed that the closure is because he feels that “hawkers have no future”— a disheartening sentiment to hear.

So, let’s seize the last opportunity to indulge in their delicious egg fried rice! Their selection is simple and straightforward, featuring 3 options, one of which resembles the Din Tai Fung version— Pork Chop Egg Fried Rice (S$6). If you’re a fan of Taiwanese cuisine, try the Chicken Cutlet Egg Fried Rice (S$5), topped with a piece of Taiwanese salt and pepper chicken cutlet on the flavourful wok hei egg fried rice.

Alternatively, indulge in the Prawn Egg Fried Rice (S$5), featuring jumbo prawns for a hearty meal. Another Taiwanese delight is the Oyster Mee Sua (S$4), a popular street food in the country. For local flavours, try the Salted Egg Chicken Fried Rice (S$6) or Black Pepper Chicken Fried Rice (S$5).

While we wish them success in their future endeavours, show your support by visiting Number One Hundred at Chinatown Complex Food Centre before they close their doors!

Founder of Hong Ji Mian Shi Jia passed on at age 83, stall now run by 3rd generation
