With these new menu additions, long lines are expected to grow on a daily basis at the 2nd outlet of the famed Old Teochew in Tampines. From May 2023, 3 classic favourite items will be re-introduced exclusively at the Tampines outlet.

Old Teochew was started by Mrs Grace and her husband back in 2017 when the couple decided to pursue their passion for hawker food. Staying dedicated to her undying love for hawker food, Mrs Grace continues to wake up at 3.30am every morning to prepare the ingredients for the day.

These new additions may not be entirely new to fans who have followed the brand since 2018.

Chef-owner Mrs Grace Quck first introduced the Cuttlefish Jellyfish Kangkong with Fruits (S$7.50), Cuttlefish Kangkong with Fruits (S$5.50) and Lontong (S$4) in 2018.

Naturally, these items were welcomed fervently by locals who were willing to wait up to 30 minutes for a taste. Due to overwhelming popular demand, Mrs Grace decided to relaunch these three dishes permanently on the menu at their second outlet in Tampines.

Although I did not personally try these items, based on my past experiences indulging in their famed Mee Siam (S$4) and Satay Bee Hoon (S$5.50), I am sure we can trust the hands of the team.

The Cuttlefish Jellyfish Kangkong with Fruits sees variation in textures from the tender and slightly chewy bite of the cuttlefish and jellyfish, crunchy kangkong and fruits.

Likewise, a myriad of flavours are to be tasted —  sweetness from guava, pineapples, pickles and jackfruit are contrasted with a tangy pour over sauce made with lime and shrimp.

The brand is initially known for their Mee Siam and Satay Bee Hoon which are available at both outlets in Singapore. These 2 staples are a must-order when dining at Old Teochew. They are also one of Singapore’s must-try hawker dishes over the years.

Head down during non-peak hours to get a taste of these new menu additions!
