10 best hawker stalls at the all-new One Punggol Hawker Centre you need to know about

One Punggol Hawker Centre, located on the second floor of One Punggol Community Club, was inaugurated on 31 Oct 2022. It is the area’s first hawker centre, marking a new beginning in Punggol‘s dining scene.

Even though malls like Northshore Plaza and Waterway Point have their own food courts, they just don’t evoke the same atmosphere and feeling as a hawker centre does. Punggol’s first food centre features over 34 hawker stalls that are housed in a well-ventilated and spacious environment, allowing its residents to dine in comfort.

If you’re new to Punggol, don’t  worry— I’ve got your back! I now present to you a food guide of the 10 best hawker stalls at the all-new One Punggol Hawker Centre that you simply must check out.

1. Botak Cantonese Porridge (#02-14) 

Botak Cantonese Porridge dishes out comforting bowls of Cantonese-style porridge. They first laid down roots at Our Tampines Hub‘s hawker centre before opening their second stall here.

With over 10 different types of porridge to choose from, you’ll be left spoiled for choice. I tried the Mixed Porridge (S$4.80), which came with pieces of century egg, chicken slices, pork liver, cuttlefish, meatball and slices of fried you tiao. To make it more decadent, you can add in an Egg (S$0.60).

You can also try the Sliced Fish Porridge (S$5.30), Seafood Porridge (S$6.30) and Handmade Meatball Porridge (S$3.50)— there’s definitely something for everyone here.

2. Lim Bo Rojak (#02-11)

Originally located at Joo Chiat, Lim Bo Rojak was started when the owners visited a 40-year-old motorbike stall in Damansara Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, which served Penang fruit rojak. After that trip, they wanted to bring that traditional taste back to Singapore.

The secret recipe sauce of their rojak is cooked from prawn paste brought in from Penang. Try the Shiok (S$5.50), which consists of pineapples, guava, mango, Japanese cucumber, radish and you tiao. The Lim Bo Special (S$12) is an upgraded version of the Shiok with extra fruits, and added prawn fritters and fried fish skin— a truly indulgent rendition.

Look out for their other special items in the future, like their Chee Cheong Fun with Rojak Sauce (S$3.50) and Crispy Youtiao with Kaya Condense Milk (S$3).

3. RENDANG NATION (#02-08) 

Muslim-owned RENDANG NATION has various offerings of delicious Malay delights. Fill your stomachs with their range of set meals available, such as Lontong Kampung Set (S$5.50) Nasi Rendang (S$5.50) and Nasi Sambal Goreng (S$6).

If you’re planning on having something light, the Lontong (S$3.50), Mee Soto (S$3.50) or Malay Kueh (S$0.70) will do just the trick.

I personally recommend the Mee Rebus (S$3.50), which has a flavourful gravy with a subtle spicy kick at the end. Top it up with some Bergedil (S$0.80) and Vegetables (S$1.50) to make it a more wholesome and satisfying meal.

4. Timbre Pizza (#02-05)

Known as home of the roasted duck pizza, residents of Punggol can now enjoy Timbre Pizza at One Punggol Hawker Centre.

The stall offers 9 different flavours which includes local favourites like Beef Rendang (S$9.80 for 7 inch, S$16.80 for 12 inch), Chili Crab (S$9.80 for 7 inch, S$16.80 for 12 inch) and their signature Roasted Duck (S$9.80 for 7 inch, S$16.80 for 12 inch) (comes with irresistible crispy toppings).

Having a tough time deciding between 2 choices? Go ahead and order The Half & Half (S$17.80) which combines 2 different types of pizza in one. 

They also serve tempting side dishes such as Onion Rings With Melted Cheese (S$5), Truffle Fries (S$5) and Timbre Chicken Wings (S$6 for 5 pieces, S$8 for 10 pieces).

5. 75 Ah Balling Peanut Soup (#02-13) 

Still have some room for dessert after your meal? Then visit 75 Ah Balling Peanut Soup for comforting bowls of glutinous rice balls served with your choice of soup.

For something warm and slightly spicy, go for the ginger soup. Otherwise, indulge in the other delicious flavours like peanut, almond milk and longan red date.

There are a total of 5 different fillings for the rice balls: peanut, sesame, red bean, yam and matcha. Prices range from 4 Pcs (S$2.40) to 6 Pcs (S$3.20).

If you’re cutting down on carbs, you can also choose to have the soup by itself for only S$1.80. With so many choices available to you, enjoy pairing different combinations for an interesting mix of tastes.

6. (Closed) No.25 Minced Meat Noodles (#02-28)

With its flagship stall located at Bukit Merah, No.25 Minced Meat Noodles has opened its second branch right here at One Punggol Hawker Centre.

You can satisfy your noodle cravings with their variety of dry and soup options like the Signature Minced Meat Noodles (S$8 for small, S$10 for medium, S$12 for large), Seafood Abalone Noodles (S$12) and Minced Meat Noodle Soup (S$5 for small, S$7 for large).

Their menu also has 5 kinds of heartwarming soups which are super comforting especially on cold rainy days. Warm up with the Fish Maw Soup (S$10), Taiwan Meatball Soup (S$5) and Pig Liver Soup (S$5) (if you’re a fan of innards).

7. Kwang Kee Teochew Fish Porridge (#02-19)

Earning itself a Michelin Bib Gourmand award in 2021, Kwang Kee Teochew Fish Porridge is well-known for their clean tasting soup and fresh slices of fish since the 1960s. Fried sole fish powder is added to the broth for a more robust flavour.

Since Newton Food Centre will be closed till Jan 2023, fans of their fish soup can now flock over to their new Punggol branch to get their cravings fixed.

Take your pick between their Sliced Fish Porridge (S$6.50 for small, S$8.50 for large), Fried Fish Soup (S$6.50 for small, S$8.50 for large) or Dual Fish Soup (S$7.50 for small, S$9.50 for large). You can also opt to add on rice, thick bee hoon, yee mee or mee sua for a more satisfying meal.

8. Eng Kee Chicken Wings (#02-34)

Eng Kee Chicken Wings has earned them the reputation of serving super crispy and juicy chicken wings that are seasoned to perfection. With the opening of their latest branch here, Punggol residents needn’t travel so far out to get their hands on these scrumptious treats.

Similar to an economic bee hoon place, you can choose a staple like Fried Bee Hoon (S$1.20) or Fried Kway Teow Mee (S$1.20) to pair it with a whole chicken wing for an additional S$1.60. Top it off with other condiments of your preference: fried egg, fish cake or otah.

Bring along some tissues because enjoying their wings with your bare hands is an absolute finger-licking good experience.

9. Uncle Penyet (#02-01)

Halal-certified Uncle Penyet sells a wide array of Indonesian dishes. Try their signature Ayam Penyet Set (S$6.50), Ikan Dory Penyet Set (S$6.50) and Udang Penyet Set (S$5.90) for those who are fans of smashed meats.

They also have combos like Ayam Panggang + Bakso Soup (4pc) (S$9.50) for a more complete meal. Get a top up of their delicious sides like Tofu (+S$0.50), Bergedil (+S$1) or Sambal Egg (+S$1.20). If you’re looking for healthier alternatives, you may opt to change the white rice to Brown Rice (+S$0.20).

10. The Usual Place (#02-23)

A collaboration between Jiao Cai Seafood and the Timbre Group, The Usual Place serves up delectable seafood zi char dishes such as Sambal Stingray (S$13/S$16/S$20), de-shelled Cereal Prawn (S$18/S$24) and of course, Live Crab (Market Price) cooked in a sauce of your liking which includes butter, salted egg, chilli and black pepper.

To accompany your decadent seafood dishes, they also offer a wide selection of a la carte choices that enable you to enjoy a sumptuous feast for large families or gatherings with friends. 

Some popular picks include Pineapple Fried Rice (S$6/S$11/S$17), Dried Chilli Beef (S$15/S$20) and Tom Yum Seafood Soup (S$8/S$12).
