Peng Guan has been crafting bak kwa by hand since 2014 and the business has a handful of stalls around the Island, mostly located within kopitiams and hawker centres. On 28 Mar 2024, they launched Peng Guan Cafe, their very first mini air-conditioned cafe located at Kallang Bahru, just directly next to Tenderbest Makcik Tuckshop and in the vicinity of Geylang Bahru Hawker Centre.

The 12-seater eatery has built-in plugs on the tables, allowing patrons to charge their phones or power up their laptops while enjoying some snacks or just chilling with a cup of coffee.

Speaking of snacks, if you’re feeling peckish, you can try the Bakkwa Puff (S$2.50 for 1 piece, S$7 for 3 pieces), Bakkwa Tart (S$1.20 for 1 piece, S$3 for 3 pieces) or the Bakkwa Muffin (S$3 for 1 piece, S$5.50 for 2 pieces). They are all freshly made in-house and if you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the action!

There’s also an assortment of steamed buns like Char Siew Pau (S$3 for 3 pieces), Big Pau (S$2 per piece). For something a little more unique, give the Bakkwa Pau (S$1 per piece) a go!

Why stick with the ordinary when you can indulge in some barista wizardry, complete with latte art? Treat yourself to a sip of sophistication with their lineup of hot brews like Cappucino (S$3.50), Latte (S$3.50), and Flat White (S$3).

If you’re like me and can’t tolerate the crazy heat outside, you can always opt for iced Oolong Tea (S$2) or iced Long Black (S$4) instead to cool you down.

While you’re at Peng Guan Cafe, you can take advantage of the big sale, taking place from now till 28 Apr 2024. The Sliced Bakkwa, Chilli Bakkwa and Chicken Bakkwa will be selling at S$10 for 500g and S$20 for 1kg (U.P S$52 for 1kg)— do grab it before the offer ends!
