Long-standing fishball noodle stall Seng Kee has shuttered at Albert Centre following its owners’ decision to pursue retirement.

I came to know about Seng Kee’s closure through a post in the Can Eat! SG Facebook group dated 20 Mar 2024. The creator of the post reflected fondly upon the stall as a frequent haunt for him and his family. Several commenters seconded this, chiming in with personal memories and bittersweet sentiments about the closure.
The stall’s closure itself didn’t come with much fanfare, though. According to the creator of the aforementioned Facebook post, the stall had already been shuttered for more than 2 weeks.

Seng Kee was one of 2 fishball noodle stalls within Albert Centre and can be regarded as somewhat of a well-kept secret among frequent patrons. Although it didn’t receive much media attention as compared to its counterpart, it stood as a trusty go-to for many.
It sold just the one dish: Fishball Mixed Ingredient Noodle cooked Dry or in Soup. The Dry option with al dente mee pok noodles tossed lightly in sauce seemed to be the most popular option. You’d get a bowl of soup on the side with their fishcakes and springy fishballs.

Even if you never saw Seng Kee at Albert Centre, chances are you heard the auntie’s booming voice, something endearingly spoken of by customers. Some also warned of its deceiving lack of a queue; the wait would actually take more than 15 minutes as locals would place their orders and return later on.
While Seng Kee will undoubtedly be missed by many, we wish Auntie and Uncle the happiest retirement!
In the meantime, you can quite literally anticipate new things in store. At the time of writing, the unit is being taken over by Malacca-style kolo mee stall King Gan Lao Mian.
Located within the same hawker centre, King Gan Lao Mian has vacated its previously-held unit #01-54 and is slated to move to Seng Kee’s unit #01-114 come 24 Apr 2024.
