It’s 2021 and the rainbow flag has been flying high and proudly, celebrating the long, hard fights of the LGBTQ+ community for a more fertile ground where inclusivity can continue blooming. Every June, we celebrate this spirit in the LGBTQ+ Pride Month, rooting and applauding for the realness and rawness of the everyday lives in this community. As events and platforms start springing up, so do brands and their products, advocating freedom and diversity.
Inspired by the spirit of empowerment and creative expression embodied in the Pride movement, this May, Vans releases their pride collection, Off The Walltogether, with footwear and apparel designed to support greater equality and progression.
Vans Classic silhouettes—the Classic Slip-On (S$89), Era (S$89), Sk8-Mid (S$109) and UltraRange—will reinterpret the iconic rainbow checkerboard pattern through repeat print executions, all-over patterns and mixed material patchwork applications. They feature a kaleidoscope of the six rainbow colours with bold print, allowing us to wave the rainbow flag in pride as we walk along the streets.

The apparel and accessories, such as the Pride Muscle Tank (S$39) and Pride Cargo Shorts (S$79) also weave in messages of love, equality, and diversity, elevating your athleisure look with a vibrant pop of colour and meaning.
As Virginia Woolf’s 1928 maxim goes, “clothes have, they say, more important offices than merely to keep us warm. They change our view of the world and the world’s view of us”. Taking inspiration from her, I believe that the most powerful symbol of fashion lies in the visibility of what is worn, where we clad our identities and hope to inspire change as we go about our daily lives. While fashion is a look or a style that is popular at a given time, supporting the freedom to love will never be démodé.
This Pride collection will be available at select Vans stores, so you can stand your ground and leave footprints of solidarity all over the streets.
Date & Time: Vans’ Off The Walltogether collection is available online and in select stores
