Seated on the 20th floor of Oxley Tower, a new hidden hideout has recently sprung up. Mademoiselle Chen, an Asian fusion restaurant and bar, has just opened its doors on 5 May 2021. It is a five-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar and Telok Ayer MRT Station, rendering it a prime location for after-work dinner and drinks, to let loose after a long day of hustling in the Central Business District (CBD).

An extensive space of 3,000 feet and twenty stories above ground, Mademoiselle Chen boasts a scenic view, where the buildings are juxtaposed against the skies, peppered with tiny boxes of lighted office spaces. Its interior is upbeat and futuristic, with hanging ball pendant lights that paint your view with spirited colours.

Specialising in Asian fusion fare, its dishes are inspired by Michelin star restaurants and famed culinary competitions. Its signature Lobster Risotto (S$38) is a grand sight, a gargantuan whole grilled Boston lobster lies on top of the miso risotto. Layers of crisp and refreshing flavours to the dish lie in its addition of pistachios, walnuts, fresh rosemary, thyme, and truffle butter. Uni Toast (S$15 for one piece, S$30 for three pieces) showcases slices of baguette fused with truffle, housing three powerful ingredients—murasaki uni (flown in daily from Japan), ikura and tobiko. A guaranteed flavour burst in every bite, it may be difficult to stop at just one slice.

You can satiate your craving for our local hawker delight, nasi lemak, in its burger iteration, the Nasi Lemak Burger (S$18). It delivers a sweet and spicy kick, with a succulent spicy chicken thigh cutlet and sweet and spicy sambal—a delicious piquancy that you need just after a long day at work.

Savour cocktails sourced from various regions around the world, with an impressive range for you to choose from. They are open till 1am on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, so even after the booze consumption calls it a day at 10.30pm, you can hang around and wait to sober up from the gastronomic coma.

I crumble a tad too easily when it comes to lemon meringue tarts, unlike the ones I love.
