Known for its exquisite dim sum and authentic Cantonese dishes, Wen Dao Shi has been a beloved dining spot for locals and tourists alike, making its impending closure a poignant moment for many.

Since its inception, Wen Dao Shi has been synonymous with high-quality dim sum crafted with precision and care. The restaurant quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional offerings, from the delicate Har Gow (S$6.80) (shrimp dumplings) to the flavourful Siu Mai (S$7.10) (pork dumplings). Each dish, meticulously prepared, showcased the culinary artistry and dedication to tradition that Wen Dao Shi was known for.

While it has been confirmed that the outlet in Geylang will close “temporarily” it is unsure if or when they will reopen soon. There is no reason given on their social media pages for this closure, but I would like to speculate that this may be attributed to the increased rental and shortage of manpower. This is also evident from back in 2022 when they changed their operating hours from 24 hours to 10.30am – 3am, daily.

With the Geylang outlet having been open for more than 2 decades, the closure of Wen Dao Shi Dim Sum marks the end of an era for many who have made the restaurant a regular part of their dining experiences.

It has been a place where families gather, friends reunite, and countless celebrations take place. Its absence will undoubtedly be felt deeply within the community.

As Wen Dao Shi Dim Sum prepares to close, it leaves behind a rich legacy of culinary excellence and cherished memories. The restaurant’s potential departure is a poignant reminder of the ever-evolving nature of the dining landscape and the importance of savouring each delicious moment.
