At this point, it seems as though the yakiniku joint openings are all slowly melting into one. First, there was the famed Yakiniku Like suitable for solo diners, Syohachi Yakiniku with their all-you-can-eat A5 wagyu buffet, Yakiniku Warrior for their coffeeshop-style BBQ, and Japanese BBQ Tora with express sets from S$7.90.

Finally, the Seletar-residing northies (is that what they’re called?) have their very own place to revel and drown themselves in meat—and a delicious one at that. Yakiniku GO at Seletar Mall is a 68-seater restaurant that boasts a pork-free menu and affordable sets. Choose from a selection of different cuts such as the wagyu chuck short rib, harami (skirt steak), kainomi (sirloin flap), jyo karubi (short rib), ribeye steak, and beef tongue.

If it’s sounding almost too good to be true so far, know that there’s a tiny catch—customers are limited to 50 minutes of dining time, but that’s perfectly understandable given the affordable prices here.

Some of their sets include the signature Yakiniku-GO Set (S$15.80) which comprises beef short plate, beef ribeye steak, beef tongue, and 100g of yakiniku and half steak, as well as the extremely value-for-money DIY Niku Sushi Set (S$6.80) which will get you sushi rice, boneless beef short rib, spring onion, seaweed, and kimchi.

As for the sauces, you’ll be able to select from four types that pair undoubtedly well with your barbecued meats—Miso Tare, the House Special Yakiniku Tare, Spicy Yakiniku Tare, and finally, the Negi Shio Tare, which is a tangy concoction of lemon, lime, orange, yuzu, and Japanese leek.
